Every GX comes from the hands of masters. The leather for the interior is carefully selected from around the world, and only a fraction of that is considered worthy of the Lexus badge. The available semi-aniline leather trim, now offered in a striking Rioja Red, is dyed all the way through, unlike leathers with conventional surface dyes. A higher grade of leather must also be used, since imperfections cannot be hidden. The available Gray Sapele wood trim adds another level of refinement to the cabin. It marries the natural expression of fine wood with the clean sophistication of brushed aluminum by layering the juxtaposing materials— laser technology engraves the wood surface to reveal the delicate metallic lines underneath. The 2020 GX also features a more intuitive, three-spoke steering-wheel design with added controls for the ultimate in convenience.

Engineered to accommodate almost any excursion, the GX is capable of towing up to 6,500 pounds,7

thanks to a solid body-on-frame construction and a 4.6-liter V8 with 329 lb-ft of torque9 at low engine speeds. Taking a smart approach to strength, Trailer Sway Control10 helps detect and prevent excessive trailer movement. To help reduce sway, braking is applied independently to each wheel, and the throttle is moderated to help reduce vehicle speed. For added peace of mind, a flashing indicator alerts the driver when the system is taking corrective measures.

With a variety of on-road technologies, the 2020 GX conquers perhaps the most challenging terrain of all for utility vehicles: the city. The available Adaptive Variable Suspension system monitors and adjusts the electronically controlled shock absorber settings of each wheel according to driving conditions or preference. The Torsen®11 torque-sensing limited-slip center differential efficiently distributes engine power between the front and rear axles to optimize traction. And when navigating some of the most challenging city- driving scenarios, the GX also features Downhill Assist Control12 to help keep the vehicle at a slow, constant descent speed and prevent the wheels from locking up, and Hill-start Assist Control12 to provide you with extra confidence when ascending from a stop by applying the brakes to all four wheels until the vehicle begins moving forward.

The engine immobilizer is a state-of-the-art anti-theft system that is initiated when you insert your key into the ignition switch or bring a SmartAccess fob into the vehicle. The engine will only start if the code in the transponder chip inside the key/fob matches the code in the vehicle’s immobilizer. The transponder chip is embedded in the key/fob and can be costly to replace. If you lose a key or fob, your Lexus dealer can help or you can go to www.aloa.org to find a qualified locksmith in your area who can perform high-security key service. 38. Airbag systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems and are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions.
