Please ensure that you are using the correct application form: (i) form priced Rs 500/- in a pink envelope for SC/ST and all women candidates, (ii) form priced Rs 1000/- in a yellow envelope for other candidates (GE/DS). A machine will process the top portion of the application form. The machine picks up only dark pencil marks. Therefore, darken the alphabet/numeral using HB pencil only. First, write in capital letters the required information with a black ink pen in the boxes (wherever provided) and then darken with an HB pencil the appropriate alphabet / numeral underneath each letter. What you write in the boxes is only for your guidance and for verification that you are darkening the correct alphabet / numeral. Do not scribble, smudge, cut, tear or wrinkle the application form. Do not put any stray pencil marks anywhere on the application form. Your photograph, signature, and address shall also be scanned by a machine that recognizes only good quality images, and from only the specified areas of the form. Therefore, paste a good quality colour photograph with white background taken not more than two months earlier, and put your address and signature in black ink only. Write your complete address giving your name and PIN CODE carefully and legibly. Please note that this block will appear as such in all our correspondence with you, and therefore, it should be very clearly written in black ink only. If you make any mistake, cover the whole box with an exact-size white paper slip and write your address on it. Your address must not overflow this box. Any change in address of correspondence should be immediately intimated to the respective zonal JEE office by registered post. Refold the form only where it was originally folded. Do not pin or staple the form. Paste only the photograph, and nothing else, on the form. You are advised to ensure the correctness of your mailing address and PIN CODE, and e-mail, telephone number, if any. Please note that office of JEE-2007 will not be responsible if communications do not reach you due to incomplete or illegible address, e-mail or telephone number. Only one application should be submitted. If more than one application is submitted, all of them may be rejected. You must quote the seven-digit application number of your application form as a reference in all your future correspondence. You must give two choices of JEE centres (refer Appendix-I) from the same NT zone. Application forms can be submitted by post OR in person at the JEE office of the NT in the zone in which the JEE centres of your choice are located. If you wish to send by post, send by REGISTERED POST/SPEED POST only. The application must reach the concerned NT on or before 17:00 hours on December 29, 2006. Do not send your application through private courier services. NT will not accept responsibility for any postal delay or irregularity or loss in postal transit. Acknowledgement cards will be posted once your application form is received by the JEE office. The status of your application form can be obtained by dialling the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) of the zonal NT to which you have submitted your application form. If the IVRS fails to indicate receipt of your form and if the acknowledgement card does not reach you by January 24, 2007, you must check with the JEE Office where you submitted your application (Telephone numbers are given on the back cover). Your application must be complete in all respects. Incomplete application forms or an application form filled in a language other than English will be summarily rejected. Options given in the application form cannot, in general, be changed at a later stage. The cost of application material is non-refundable. Candidates who have accepted admission by payment of full fees at any of the NTs, IT-BHU Varanasi or ISM Dhanbad, are not eligible to appear for the JEE-2007. The Courts at Mumbai alone shall have the jurisdiction to settle and decide all matters and disputes related to JEE-2007 as NT Bombay is the organising institute.

JEE-2007 1 INTRODUCTION
The Indian Institutes of Technology are institutions of national importance established through an Act of Parliament. These Institutes play a leading role in technological manpower development and have research programmes comparable to the best in the world. The admissions to the Undergraduate Programmes for all Indian and Foreign nationals at these institutions are made through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi is one of the oldest institutions devoted to education in various engineering disciplines. Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, a deemed university, is the oldest institution of its kind in India. The admissions to the Undergraduate Programmes at these institutions are also made through JEE.
