Rita Moreno is one of the most inspirational and accomplished performers of all time. As a trailblazing artist, she has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony – and is one of only twelve artists who have ever been honored with all four, the “EGOT.” As a recent Kennedy Center honoree, Rita Moreno’s ability to transcend the discriminatory practices of Hollywood and set a precedent for Latino actors to be recognized by talent rather than ethnicity is simply incredible. She’ll be sharing her lifetime of Hollywood anecdotes and song-and-dance numbers on Tacoma’s stage.

Bellydance Evolution takes a revolutionary approach to the whimsical tale Alice in Wonderland, re-imagining the colorful, iconic—and, dare we say, “mad”—characters through the language of world fusion dance. Be inspired and journey deep into the mysterious world of Wonderland! Called “mesmerizing,” “wildly acrobatic,” and “fierce,” Bellydance Evolution transcends the genre to bring a theatrical and contemporary edge to a traditional art form.

Bellydance Evolution seeks to explore, celebrate, and re-imagine Middle Eastern dance for the 21st century. By fusing bellydance with dance forms more specific to the West, Bellydance Evolution takes you on a spectacular journey. The message—bringing awareness of Middle Eastern dance’s rich diversity and artistic validity—unfolds in the work of the Company. Together, these initiatives celebrate the dynamic aesthetic of Middle Eastern dance, culture, and creativity.

“What remains remarkable about Keillor, after more than 40 years behind a microphone and keyboard, is that he doesn’t collect stories via interviews. He simply lives: observing, eavesdropping, chitchatting, remembering, daydreaming, then spinning his entire life experience into tales that may be fantastical but are always true.”
