The ClassThe Pioneer programme is our best value English course, offering intensive or semi intensive long term study. It’s a unique course giving you the opportunity to study in England for three to twelve months. At the same time as living and learning the English language you are meeting new friends and developing a deep cultural understanding. By the end of the course you will see the success and feel the achievement of becoming more fluent.

You can choose how many weeks you would like to do from any of these start dates -28th September 2009, 4th January, 5th April, 5th July, 4th October 2010. After each Pioneer term students are expected to move up a level.

Choose your length of course:Full year 4 x 11 week terms / 44 weeks’ tuition / 12 months including vacations

Academic year 3 x 11 week terms / 33 weeks’ tuition / 9 months including vacations

Courses Pioneer 20 Choose our Pioneer standard course, and you’ll have 20 x 45 minute lessons per week, using a modern textbook you focus on the four skills of the English language (reading, writing, speaking and listening) based around the grammar and vocabulary in the text book.

Pioneer 32 (Skills/Business/IELTS) For faster progress choose Pioneer Intensive 32: the same 20 x 45 minute lessons per week (Pioneer 20), plus an extra 12 x 45*3 minute lessons per week of afternoon classes targeting specific areas. Join classes focused on business, exam preparation or English skills suiting your needs and interests. As a Pioneer 32 student, you will have the opportunity to change your afternoon option.

The business element develops your skills in presentation, report-writing, business communication and business culture. Other fundamental components of the course involve project based tasks, case studies and essential skills for those entering a business role. It is a course which enables you to work in a team but excel as an individual.

> IELTS Pioneer 32The IELTS Pioneer 32 focuses on IELTS examination skills. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an examination taken in order to enter British, Australian and New Zealand universities. The IELTS Pioneer 32 trains you academically in preparation for the IELTS exam. The course is integrated so that in the morning you develop your general English skills while the IELTS classes give you expert exam techniques, focusing on topics and methods to improve your overall IELTS score.

The ClassOur examination preparation classes focus on specific examination skills. IELTS is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian and New Zealand universities and colleges. Many US universities, colleges and professional organisations worldwide recognize IELTS as a standard measure of English ability.

IELTS checks all four English language skills and the classes investigate general communication skills, accuracy and fluency, reading with clear understanding, academic vocabulary, writing clear and effective examination papers, exam techniques and strategies.

There is an entry requirement of intermediate English or above, you will be asked to take an entry test in order to establish whether your English is at an appropriate level to follow the course.
