INTRODUCTION

Follow these steps to remove the muffler from your engine. Once removed, a damaged muffler canbe replaced or a dirty one cleaned. The muffler can become dirty or damaged over time. It isimportant to keep it clear of debris so that the exhaust coming from the engine can flow normally.Once removed, a damaged muffler can be replaced or a dirty one cleaned.

Step 1 — Muffler

Make sure the the engine is off andthe spark plug wire is removed andaway from the spark plug beforebeginning.

Use a socket wrench with a 1/4" hexbit or a 1/4" wrench to remove thethree 13mm screws holding theouter flange.

Remove the flange.

Step 2

Use a pair of needle nose pliers tobend back the two metal tabs onether side of the remaining screws.Be careful not to break off the tabs.



Step 3

Use a socket wrench with a 7/16"hex bit or 7/16" wrench to removethe two remaining 75mm screws.

Make sure not to lose the metal barlinking the two screws.

Step 4

Remove the muffler from the engine block by simply pulling it away.

After removing the muffler, make sure to note the configuration of the washer assembly that sitsbetween the muffler and the engine block (shown in photo 2). This piece will be free to fall out oncethe muffler is removed. Do not lose this piece.



To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
