Bridging Boundaries: Connecting Learning, Teaching & Research

This year’s conference title is ‘Bridging Boundaries: Connecting Learning, Teaching & Research’ and will explore the linkages and connections between research and enterprise, and learning and teaching.

The 2019 event, delivered in partnership with Space Solutions (Scotland) Ltd, incorporating haa design, will build on last year’s hugely successful conference which for the first time combined learning, teaching & research. We hope that delegates will enjoy the exciting programme of keynote speakers, presentations and workshops which has been prepared.

Keynote speakersWe are thrilled that we have been able to secure two outstanding keynote speakers for this year’s conference in David Price, OBE, who is an expert in organisational learning for a complex future (Day 1) and Dr Tahir Hanif, who is a project management consultant, lecturer and trainer (Day 2).

David Price, OBEDavid Price will deliver a dynamic and engaging presentation revealing some of the biggest challenges facing business, education and society.

He is a Senior Associate at the Innovation Unit and co-founder of We Do Things Differently, a culture change practice. His recent book, ‘OPEN: How We’ll Work, Live and Learn In The Future’ has been an Amazon best-seller since its publication.

Dr Tahir HanifDr Hanif will discuss how modern universities need to capitalise on their internationally excellent, industry-centred R&D to enrich learning and personal development of students and inform how we educate future generations to address the global challenges and societal needs of tomorrow.

Dr Hanif is a project management consultant, lecturer and trainer. He has over 30 years’ professional experience of working on high profile projects in the United Kingdom, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

INSPIRING PEOPLEBY DESIGN

Working in partnership with UWS and the wider team has been a perfect example of how our specialist services enhance the delivery of great projects.

Our workplace consultancy team were instrumental in challenging traditional notions of learning and teaching environments. Engaged from the start to understand the learning and teaching experience, space plans were developed within an interior design framework that accommodates change and ensured that the building was a perfect fit. Our move management experts provided a seamless relocation service, including the moving of specialist labs and healthcare facilities. UWS Lanarkshire is an innovative and inspiring technology-driven, flexible learning and teaching environment; it has been a great project to be part of.
