Have you ever been in a relationship where there’s no trust?That’s right, it’s hell!

Or have you ever imagined what it would be like if your parent/guardians, your partner, your best friend or any one you hold dear, loses their trust in you?

Yes, it would weaken your relationship or break it entirely. Trust is an important element in any relationship, whether romantic or platonic.

Trustisdevelopedovertime;itgoesthroughaprocessasit’sstrengthened. However, broken trust is within an instant. The instant your parents find out you have misused your school fees, the instant your partner catches you cheating, the instant your best friend finds out you have been backstabbinghim/her;inthatinstant they lose their trust in you. Now the question comes, do you want them to regain their trust in you? If so, this article will help you get there.

The first thing to do is stop whatever caused the broken trust. If it is an affair, end it at once.Ifit’smisusingschoolfee,stop it. The backstabbing, stop it. Most of all stop the lies. Lies

always come eventually to try and cover-up your misdeeds. No matter how hurting or shameful the truth may be, just tell it out right.

You have to apologize. You have to show how truly sorry you are and mean it. In some cases, you will be met with a cold shoulder, a lot of yelling and curses, a slammed doortoyourface;dependingonthe temper of the person you are apologizing too. If they even listen, you should count yourself lucky. However,sometimestheperson’sreaction maybe dangerous or fatal, so you need to be careful how you goaboutit.Don’ttakeanyofthesereactions as a dooms end to your efforts. They need to vent out the anger, clear out all the negative energy and create space for positivity. You are apologizing for areasonsodon’ttrytojustifyyouractionsbecausethatwon’thelponebit.

Remind the person why they trusted you in the first place. Idon’tmeantellthem,Imeanshow them. If you are a student, get better grades at school, stay out of trouble, help around the house and such. Let them see the daughter or son they love. If it is your partner, bethereforthembutdon’tsmotherthem. A romantic relationship becomes very strained when trust is broken and you really need to be patientwithyourpartner.Don’ttry to buy or blackmail them into trusting you, they may end up hating you or worse be indifferent. Instead, show how much you love them and need to be with them, how responsible you are and most of all listen and pay attention to what they say or do.
