Inviter les habitants d’un quartier pavillonnaire de Tokyo à occuper plus franchement la rue, dédiant à chacun un morceau de terrain de-vant sa maison. Briser la toute puissance de la voiture, en rendant ces rues plus adaptées aux usagers lents: piétons et cyclistes.

Invite inhabitants of a suburban neighborhood in Tokyo to increase their occupation of the street, landing each a portion of land in front of their house. Breaking the car’s ruling by making these streets more suited for slow and agile users, such as pedestrians and bikers.

Un écart de quatre mètres entre deux maisons, lier le sol au toit par une succes-sion de plans pliés. Leur écartement permet à la lu-mière de s’engouffrer au coeur de l’intervention, invi-tant le visiteur à l’ascension.

In a four meter gap between two houses, connect groun-dlevel to the rooftop thanks to folded plans. The dis-tance between them allows the light to pour in, as an in-vitation for passers-by to go up.

Designing horizontally toward the city in or-der to emphasize the street’s axiality. Open up toward the canal with vertical and ponc-tual buildings, in order to allow all residents to enjoy the view.

Batir en longueur et densément contre la ville de façon à mar-quer l’axialité de la rue par le bati. Batir plus ponc-tuellement et en hauteur en front de canal, de ma-nière à en offrir la contemplation à l’ensemble des ri-verains.

Toutes ces villes sont fantastiques à parcourir.Leur histoire est émouvante, mais elle n’est pas contemporaine.Elles semblent figées sous le poid d’un passé que «l’humanité n’a pas le droit de détruire» (cf.Yoshinobu Ashihara).

All those cities are wonderful to explore.Their history is amazing, thus not contemporary.As if they were paralized by a past «no one has the right to destroy» (quoting Yoshinobu Ashihara).
