BLENDED AND ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING
Courses for Teachers
Examine the fundamental framework of effective online course
development. Engage in a variety of hands-on learning tools,
interact with colleagues, and communicate with the course
instructor to design online instruction. Develop an online unit and
prepare to develop an online course.
KEY OUTCOMES:Apply principles of online curriculum design. Gain
tools for active online learning. Develop practical online
coursework.
ONLINE TEACHING: FUNDAMENTALS OF INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN
Apply educational research, theory, and best practices to
support an online curriculum. Practice communication skills,
feedback management, and problem solving techniques. Collaborate
with colleagues through class activities, receive dedicated
coaching from the course instructor, and learn to nurture a
reflective online learning community.
KEY OUTCOMES:Nurture an online learning environment. Enrich
online discussions. Develop student management skills.
ONLINE TEACHING: FUNDAMENTALS OF INSTRUCTION
DURATION OF COURSES: Eight weeks total, approximately two to
three hours per week.
FORMAT OF COURSES: Four two-week modules. Each module includes
one week of self-paced and one week of collaborative instruction.
The collaborative sessions are fully facilitated.
