The BLM protects and manages wild horses and burros under the authority of the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971 (as amended) to ensure that healthy herds thrive on healthy rangelands.
Manage horse and burro populations within the ecosystem at a thriving natural ecological balance.
Manage for multiple use.
