Tomb of Shakthan Thampuran : An erstwhile ruler hailed from Kochi kingdom, is located in Thrissur and is a major tourist attraction, especially for the tourists having special interest in history. Shaktan Thampuran was the most powerful Kochi King who ruled the regions covering Thrissur. The tomb of Shakthan Thampuran is one of the three tombs placed inside the Shakthan Tamouran Palace constructed by Ramavarma Thampuaran in 1795. Built in Dutch and Kerala style of architecture, the tomb is at the spot where the mortal remain of the King was laid to rest. Thrissur Festival: The most spectacular festival in the region is one of the major tourist attractions for many. Sometime in April / May, caparisoned elephants from neighboring temples partake in an elaborate procession to the complex of Vadakkumnathan Temple. Dazzling fireworks goes on throughout the night.
