He was extremely fond of YMCA KL and many times would tell of his involvement with the YMCA to his beloved family. An engineer by profession; he was a Board Member and was

President in the year 1979 before he relocated to Houston, Texas USA. His mission characterized his leadership that the YMCA’s trust should be Christ centered.

“Activities in the YMCA today should be Christ-centered, with Jesus Christ as the spiritual force and with Jesus Christ as the basis of social responsibility.”

Christmas Open House 2010

26th Dec 2010, Lee Kong Chian Hall, YMCA KL: The CIM Committee organized the YMCA Open House for members and friends. The children from Ti-Ratana, PDK Selayang and Pusat Jagaan Siddharthan were also invited to share the joy and warmth of Christmas. The President, Mr. Joshua Ong who had generously donated a 10 ft Christmas tree and door gifts, led the lighting ceremony. The Boys’ Brigade, Deaf Club, Senior Citizens, and The Happy Carolers – a blind group, kept the guests entertained. The highlight was the Christmas Pageant by the juniors of the Boys’ Brigade, who enacted the birth of Christ Jesus.

YMCA KL Youth: Blood Donation Drive

25th Feb 2011, Lee Kong Chan Hall, YMCA KL: YMCA Youth held a blood donation campaign to boost the National Blood Bank’s supply as well as to foster a sense of social responsibility among the members, staff and the public. Many may not be aware that red blood cells can only last 42 days outside of your body and many hospitals are always in

need of blood supply. There were many who turned up for the event, but only a total of 47 pints of blood were successfully donated. YMCA KL Youth would like to thank everyone for their gracious presence in support of the Blood Drive. Do you know that blood regenerates fast and that you can donate your blood every 3 months? Look out for the next Blood Drive! It will be on the 17th, June 2011!

Jan to March 2011: YMCA Youth Gather & Give would like to shout out a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Food Drive for the Gather & Give Project in the past months. The delivery has been made to Pusat Kanak-kanak Cacat Taman Megah, Shelter 1 and Women’s Aid Organization. The Gather & Give is a monthly food drive project collecting donation in terms of non-perishable goods & items for the children, disabled persons, homeless, single mothers and old folks. If you are interested to donate, please drop them by at YMCA KL.

PMY: Deaf Hawks Conquers Ice Hockey

28th Nov 2010, Sunway: YMCA Kuala Lumpur’s Deaf Teen members created history in the Malaysian Deaf Community when six Deaf Teen members played ice hockey against the Dexion Wildcat at the Pyramid Ice in Sunway. With four months of training assistance from the Malaysian Ice Hockey Federation [MIHF] through the community programme “Learn to Play”, our six Deaf Teens enjoyed both the training and Hawks play-off. They hope one day, they too can become professional ice hockey players. 12th Dec 2010: This year’s Bowling Competition cum Christmas Party gathered more than 60 participants into 12 teams for some good hearted fun. The Top-3 Teams were: Champion Ultraman Zone 2nd runner-up King Paul Octopus 3rd runner-up Power Me. The 4th – 6th winning teams received a hamper each. Everyone had an enjoyable time during the competition and exchanging gifts for the Christmas Party after that, especially the Sign language students who took this opportunity to practice his or her Signing skills.

26th Feb 2011, Zoo Negara: Bonjour! The French Language Course has once again organized another day out and this time to the Zoo Negara with the Level 5 and 6 students to

process while enjoying une promenade à pied. With much enthusiasm, the students brought their dictionary for a mission to complete the assigned project handout as a task to test their knowledge of French vocabulary. Moreover, this event has furnished them an additional opportunity to encourage one another as well as to be acquainted with each other better besides sharing their common interest; the French language.

The Senior Citizens’ Club is open to all YMCA members 55 years and above. Entrance fee is RM10.00 and yearly subscription is RM 20.00. Membership expires on 31st December each year. The club meets every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm at Dewan Lee Kong Chian in YMCA KL for exercise, dancing and fellowship.

REMINDER TO ALL SCC MEMBERS Kindly be reminded to renew your SCC Membership before 28 February 2012. Members who do not renew their membership will not be entitled to enjoy the SCC Club activities.

Members are reminded to wear their SCC Membership Tags during gathering or be subjected to a fine of RM 5.00.

Non-members are not allowed to join the activities, but if an SCC Member wish to bring a guest, they must sign-in their guest properly and pay the appropriate Guest Fee.
