Bis auf Weiteres werden alle Flüge im Terminal 1 abgefertigt. Aufgrund der Corona-Pandemie ist das Terminal 5 des BER vorübergehend geschlossen. Wenn die Fluggast zahlen wieder ansteigen, können mit den Terminals 2 und 5 zusätzliche Gebäude für die Abfertigung der Passagiere in Betrieb ge-nommen werden.

All flights are being handled at Terminal 1 until further notice. Terminal 5 at BER is temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. When passenger numbers increase again, additional buildings for passenger handling can be put into operation with Terminals 2 and 5.

BER can be reached quickly and conveniently by public transport and car.

By trainAll trains stop directly below Terminal 1 on Level U2. The Airport Express travels to Berlin Central Station (Haupt bahn-hof) two times every hour from there. The journey takes 30 minutes. There are direct train connections every hour to Königs Wusterhausen (16 minutes), Wünsdorf-Waldstadt (30 minutes) and Potsdam (56 minutes).

By suburban railway and busSuburban trains (S-Bahn) also stop at Terminal 1 on Level U2. Six suburban trains per hour connect BER with the capital’s local transport network. The journey to Alexanderplatz takes 44 minutes. The closely timed express buses X7 and X71 also take you to Berlin’s Rudow underground station (U7) in a journey time of 18 minutes. Furthermore, the express buses BER 1 (Rathaus Steglitz – BER T1–2) and BER 2 (Potsdam Hbf [Central Station] – BER T1–2 and T5) run several times a day to Berlin Brandenburg Airport.

The direct route to BER Terminals 1 and 2 by car is via the A113 motorway, taking the “Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg” No. 8 exit. From the access roads to the A113, you will be on the A100, the Berlin city motorway within 15 minutes or in 10 minutes when travelling south on the Berliner Ring (A10).

Parking Five modern multi-storey car parks and three ground- level car parks are available for you at Terminals 1–2. All multi- storey car parks are equipped with sanitary facilities as well as bright staircases and lifts, which guarantee you an acces-sible arrival and departure. Baggage trolleys are available in car parks P4 and P6 and all multi-storey car parks levels. There are monitors in the car parks with relevant informa-tion on current departures and arrivals. Hire cars You will find hire car counters directly on arrivals Level E0. You can pick up and drop off your vehicle at the hire car centre. It is located in the P2 multi-storey car park and can be reached on foot from Terminal 1 in just a few minutes.

Car sharing Do want to use a car for a short time instead of renting it long-term? Car-sharing service operators provide their cus-tomers with special parking facilities at BER. You will find the vehicles in car park P4.

Would you like to pick up passengers from BER or drop them off for their flight? You may park free of charge for 10 minutes on the departure level approach at Terminal 1

If you arrive at Terminal 1, use the north and south taxi ranks on arrivals Level E0. Departing passengers leave the taxi on departure Level E1.

At the airportTerminal 1 is the main building at BER. Here, departing passengers will find check-in and security checks, and arriving passengers will find information about their onward journey. Catering facilities and shops are located on Levels U1, E0, E1 and E2.

Where do I have to go?Are you a departing passenger? Level E1 in Terminal 1 is important for you. Upon entering the Terminal, you will find the central airport information desk, the check-in area and security checkpoints. You will find display boards for departures on each level in Terminal 1.

As an arriving passenger, you will find the arrivals area and baggage claim hall on Level E0. This is also where the Welcome Center is located as the first point of contact for visitors to Berlin. The multilingual staff there will advise you on planning your stay in Berlin. You can find out about the next train departures and buy tickets at the Deutsche Bahn Reisezentrum (travel centre) on Level U1.

At BER, you will find various cafés, shops, restaurants and services as well as facilities for passenger and baggage handling and security checks. You can access these via the marketplace on Level E1 in the security area.

In the public area, you will find the Room of Silence on the Gallery and access to the Observation Deck.

Escalators and lifts will take you down to the train station “Bahnhof Flughafen BER – Terminal 1–2”, which is located on Level U2

BER offers you a wide range of shops, catering facilities and services in all terminal areas. The central market-place is located in T1 directly behind the security check-points. You can also eat and shop in the arrivals area. In the public area, there is a supermarket, a pharmacy and other catering facilities and shops, as well as the Berlin Brandenburg Welcome Center and the lost property office.

Your flightDo you want to find out if your departing flight is on schedule? Are you picking some one up and want to know if the plane is going to land on time?

You can get up-to-date information about your flight via our website and the Berlin Airport App. There, the airlines’ contact details, maps, tips on flying, news and contacts are also provided centrally.

Flying under corona conditions

Numerous measures are being taken in the terminal as well as at the security checkpoints and when boarding to ensure that passengers at the airport can board their flight safely, even under corona conditions. The current situation involves compliance with a number of rules of conduct. Please look at these yourself before your flight and adhere to the rules!

Rules of conductPlease keep a sufficient distance from other people. Wash-rooms and disinfectant dispensers are located in all terminal areas. Enough buses are provided for transport to and from the aircraft so that each bus is only about half full. Travellers are asked not to all board the first available bus to ensure maximum capacity is maintained.

Entry and Covid testsPlease find out yourself about entry requirements, quaran-tine regulations and compulsory tests before you travel or return. Passengers and visitors can be tested for the Covid-19 virus in Terminal 1 with PCR tests and rapid antigen tests.

Keep your distance Wear a medical mask that covers mouth and nose in the terminal

Only 1 piece of hand luggage per passenger

Wash your hands or use disinfectant

Take into account any current testing and

quarantine obligations

Leave the terminal immediately after arrival

Use your airline’s online check-in. Alternatively, there are 118 check-in counters in Terminal 1, spread over 10 islands. Some airlines allow you to check in at self-service kiosks. Simply hand in your hold baggage at a drop-off desk afterwards.

If you only have hand luggage and have already checked in online, please go directly to the security checkpoint. Your printed or electronic boarding pass on your smartphone willopen the entrances to the departure area via scanner.

Terminal 5 is currently closed due to low passenger numbers. Terminal 2 will also not be put into operation for the time being. Not all airlines are currently flying to BER because of the coronavirus pandemic.

If you have checked baggage, please go to your airline’s respective at the airport. You will find your flight’s counter number on the display boards in the terminal and on our website. Some airlines provide separate counters or even self-bag drop machines to check in baggage. Large and oversized baggage must always be checked in separately.

Hold baggage Please observe the regulations of your airline regarding the size and weight of your checked baggage.

Certain objects are not allowed either in hand baggage or in hold baggage. Please check with your airline, our website, the German Federal Police’s website and the German Federal Aviation Authority’s website to find out which items are generally prohibited in your baggage:

Oversized baggage“Oversized baggage” is when your baggage is too large for the regular baggage belt. Please find out the size and weight restrictions, any possible reporting requirements as well as any fees for transporting oversized baggage from your airline before travelling.

On arrival You will receive your oversized baggage centrally in the bag-gage claim hall. Watch out for the “Oversized Baggage” label.

Safe storageYou can store your baggage at BER on a daily or hourly basis. Baggage storage in T1 is located on Level U1 (public area).

Baggage regulationsWhat is allowed, what is not?

Hand luggageThe size and weight of hand baggage is determined by the airline. Contents are subject to general security regulations. Please find out before you travel which items you are allowed to carry in your hand luggage. For example, liquids are only allowed in small quantities. They must be presented separately at the security checkpoint. We recommend that our guests hand fluids over in travel baggage, if possible.

Your relaxed family trip begins at BER: a range of facilities and services can be found at BER to make your journey by air a pleasant experience for your children. Explore the ex-citing world of aviation or pass the time until your flight on our Observation Deck. Pushchairs and buggies that exceed 25 cm in height when folded must be checked in. You can hire a buggy at the airport information desk in Terminal 1 (security area, marketplace).

If you need assistance on your journey due to mobility restrictions, our free Mobility Service is available to you. Please inform your airline, tour operator or travel agent of the extent of your needs, preferably directly when booking your flight, but no later than 48 hours before departure.

After your boarding passes have been checked, you go through the security checkpoint with your hand luggage. To do so, place your hand luggage down flat on the screen-ing device conveyor belt. Place all metallic objects from your bags and your clothing, your laptop or tablet and your properly packed and sealed plastic bag with liquids in the trays provided. Please place your jacket or coat in the trays as well. Please do not enter the scanner until being asked to do so.

The marketplace is located behind the security checkpoints, where you will find shopping facil-ities and the food court with restaurants. From here, you can get to your departure gate. Find out which gate you are departing from on the display screens, our website or out app.

Security checkBoarding pass and ID on hand? Laptop, tablet and liquids out of your hand luggage? Good preparation is everything. Then things will go quickly.

You must always keep personal identity documents with you at all times and show these upon request.

Are you arriving at BER and then travelling on independent-ly? Then find your connecting flight gate after leaving the aircraft. Follow the signs to the departure area to find your way to your gate.

If you are travelling with checked baggage, go to baggage claim after leaving the aircraft and collect your baggage. Re-check your baggage at the check-in counters of your connection flight airline. When arriving from or departing to the non-Schengen area, you will go through a passport and security check.

Transferring independently has become an important way of travelling.
