    Description

    The Type 1000 Transducer is an electro-pneu-matic device that reduces a supply pressure to aregulated output pressure directly proportionalto an electrical input signal. The Type 1000accepts a wide range o supply pressures,ranging rom a minimum o 3 psig (0.2 BAR)above the maximum output up to 100 PSIG (6.9BAR). An integral pneumatic volume boosteris included in the design to provide high owcapacity (up to 12 SCFM/339 SLPM). Modelselections include general purpose, NEMA 4XType, extended range, high relie , intrinsicallysa e, and explosion proo .

    Type 1000I/P & E/P Transducers

    Principle o Operation

    The Type 1000 Transducer is a orce balancedevice in which a coil is suspended in thefeld o a magnet by a exure. Current owingthrough the coil generates axial movement othe coil and exure. The exure moves againstthe end o a nozzle, and creates a back pressurein the nozzle by restricting air ow through it .This back pressure acts as a pilot pressure toan integral booster relay. Consequently, as theinput signal increases (or decreases, or reverseacting), output pressure increases proportional-ly. Zero and span are calibrated by turning eas-ily accessible adjusting screws on the ront aceo the unit. The zero adjusting screw causes thenozzle to move relative to the exure. The spanadjusting screw is a potentiometer that limits

    the current through the coil. A thermistor circuitin series with the coil provides temperaturecompensation.

    Split Ranging

    The 4-20 mA input, 3-15 PSIG output model canbe recalibrated to provide 3-9 PSIG or 9-15 PSIGoutput, or split ranging applications.

    Mounting

    The Type 1000 transducers can be pipe, panel,or bracket mounted in any position. Positionsother than vertical will require recalibrationo the zero adjustment. For maximum outputpressure stability, the Type 1000 should bemounted in a vibration- ree location or such thatvibration is isolated to the X and Z axis shownon the dimensional drawings.

    Field Reversible

    All Type 1000 transducers are calibrated at theactory or direct acting operation but may be

    used in the reverse acting mode by reversingthe polarity o the signal leads and recalibrat-ing. When calibrated or reverse acting applica-tions, the Type 1000 transducers provide aminimum o their ull rated output pressure (i.e.,

    15, 27, or 30 PSIG) upon input signal ailure.Type 1000 or Extended Range

    Description

    The Bello ram Extended Range I/P and E/PTransducers are based on Bello rams provenType 1000 transducer line - the best sellingtransducers in the business.

    The large span adjustment range o this lineallows recalibration to ft applications withoutput ranges rom approximately 3-35 PSIG(0.2-2.4 BAR) to 3-145 PSIG (0.2-10 BAR).

    Type 1000 Transducers

    The units accept supply pressures up to 150PSIG (10.5 BAR) and provide ow capacity to24 SCFM (677 SLPM).

    The Type 1000 I/P and E/P Transducers aremore cost e ective and more accurate thantypical high output systems using transducerscoupled to boosting or multiplying relays.

    Type 1000 with High Relie

    Description

    Expanding upon the proven accuracy, reliabil-ity, and rugged construction o the Type 1000General Purpose, these transducers provideextra ast blowdown or a very rapid releaseo downstream pressure. The extra relie eatumakes these units suitable or cylinder returnstroke actuation, air hoists, and similar applica-tions requiring ast exhaust. These units acceptsupply pressures to 100 PSIG (6.9 BAR), withoutput ranges rom 1-17 PSIG (0.07-1.2 BAR) t6-30 PSIG (0.4-2.1 BAR), and provide exhaustcapacities o 7 SCFM (336 SLPM).

    Description

    The Type 1001 is a patented amily o electro-pneumatic instruments that is used to reduce asupply pressure to a regulated output pressurewhich is directly proportional to a two-wirecurrent or three-wire voltage input. This designincorporates closed loop sensing o the outputpressure to achieve excellent accuracy and vibra-tion stability. It also eatures a unique dampingcircuit which can be adjusted to prevent over-shoot and actuator hunting. Model selectionincludes General Purpose (NEMA 1), Rainproo(NEMA 3R), and Watertight/Corrosion Resistant(NEMA 4X). NEMA 4X models are also explosion-proo , and all models are intrinsically sa e.

    open to its frst detent position. Pots are clearlydistinguished by legend on the cover. On NEMA3R and 4X models, the cover should be removed toreach the pots (marked Z or zero and S or span).

    Adjust the pots clockwise to increase Zero andSpan as required to optimize actory set outputwith appropriate input signal and supply pressureapplied.

    Damping AdjustmentTo eliminate undesirable system oscillation, theType 1001 eatures a unique damping adjust-ment. The output response is optimized tovarying downstream volumes by adjusting the

    eedback time constant o the coil drive amplifer.This is accomplished on NEMA 1 models by slid-ing the cover window open to its second detentposition to expose the single-turn Damping Poten-

    tiometer (remove the cover on NEMA 3R and 4Xmodels). To optimize response, turn the pot ullycounterclockwise until system oscillation is justeliminated. System oscillation may be observedby monitoring output pressure or by observingthe behavior o directly actuated system compo-nents in response to a changing input.

    MountingThe Type 1001 transducers are designed to beposition insensitive. They can be panel, valve, orpipe mounted at any angle (see NEMA 3R limita-tion) without a need or in place recalibration.Panel mounting can be either direct or with thebracket urnished with each unit. Mounting holesare located on the bottom and side to providemaximum mounting exibility. Users may orderthe optional DIN Rail Adapter or a bracket suit-able or either valve or 2" pipe mounting. Specialpipe clamps may be ordered as a separate kit.

    Type 1500 Description

    The T-1500 is a new series o electro-pneumatictransducers that convert an electrical signalto a proportional pressure output. It providesprecision electro-pneumatic control to actuators,valves, positioners, fnal control elements andis ideally used or high- ow control devices.The Type 1500's compact size and accessibilityto ports and adjustments allow the unit to beinstalled in space-constrained locations or in amani old or multi-device control.

    Type 1500I/P & E/P Transducers

    Principle o Operation

    (See Fig. 2 and 6) The T-1500 Transduceris a orce balance device in which a coil issuspended in the feld o a magnet by a exure.Current owing through the coil generates axialmovement o the coil and exure. The exuremoves against the end o a nozzle and createsa back pressure in the nozzle by restricting air

    ow. This back pressure acts as a pilot pressureto an integral booster relay. Consequently, asthe input signal increases (or decreases orreverse acting), output pressure increasesproportionally.

    In the zero based T-1500, the output o thetransducer section is routed to an integral nega-tive bias booster relay. The bias relay allows thecomplete unit to regulate output pressure downto 0 psig/BAR. The bias relay also amplifes theoutput o the transducer which allows the zerobased units to regulate higher output pressuresthan the standard T-1500.

    Zero and Span are calibrated by turning easilyaccessible adjusting screws on the ront aceo the unit (see Figures 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9).The zero adjustment causes the nozzle to moverelative to the exure. The span adjustment isa potentiometer that limits the ow o currentthrough the coil. A thermistor circuit in serieswith the coil provides temperature compensa-tion.

    Mounting

    The T-1500 can be mounted at any anglebut should be calibrated a ter mounting. Formaximum output pressure stability, the T-1500should be mounted vertically in a vibration reelocation or such that the vibration is isolatedto the X and Z axis. The T-1500 can be in-line,panel, pipe, DIN rail or mani old mounted.

    Air Connections

    1. Supply Air must be instrument quality airregulated between 5 PSI above maximumoutput pressure up to 120 PSIG / 8.3 BAR(See table: Supply Pressure Range).

    2. Instrument-quality air consists o :a. A dew point less than 35Fb. No particles larger than three micronsc. Maximum oil content o 1 ppm

    T-1500 Mani old and Adapter Kit

    Principle o Operation

    The T-1500 mani old assembly allows multipleT-1500 Transducers to be mounted in parallel.This minimizes the number o individual supplyair lines required. Mani olds are available tohold three, fve, or ten units. Each mani oldcomes with check valves so that a unit can bepulled o o the mani old or service or replace-ment without a ecting the whole mani old.(See Figure 1.)

    Mounting

    The mani olds may be mounted ush with awall or cabinet or may be mounted away romthe wall. Both mounting options are included inthe basic mani old kit. In addition, all fttingsrequired to mount the ull number o units ineach mani old are included in the basic kit. Anadditional adapter kit may be purchased whichcontains all o the hardware required to mani-

    old mount a single T-1500 Transducer shouldthe need arise.

    Air Supply Attachment

    The air supply can be attached to either sideo the mani old via a 3/4 NPT connection orto the back o the mani old via a 3/8 NPT con-nection. A ter an air supply port is selected, theopen ports should be plugged using the plugsprovided with the mani old kit and a pneumaticsealant.

    Output Air Attachment

    Connect the output ports rom each o the

    T-1500 Transducers to the bottom or back othe mani old. A ter connecting the transducers,plug the other 1/8 NPT ports using the plugsprovided and a pneumatic sealant.

    T-1500 Mani old Adapter Kit

    The T-1500 mani old kit includes the adapterkits required or each transducer.

    Electrical Connections

    Type 2000I/P & E/P Transducers

    Principle o Operation

    The Type 2000 I/P and E/P transducers utilizeclosed-loop pressure eedback-control or preci-sion pressure output and minimized e ects otemperature, supply pressure changes, supplyvoltage changes, and mounting angle.

    Supply pressure is reduced by the supplyvalve to provide an output pressure which isinternally routed to a precision temperaturecompensated piezo-resistive pressure sensor.Supply pressure is also routed to an externallyremovable orifce which provides a reducedpilot pressure to a chamber containing aservo diaphragm and nozzle. Pilot pressure iscontrolled by modulating the gap between the

    ace o a nozzle and an adjacent piezo-ceramicactuator, which is part o a unique patentedmechanism.

    The piezo-ceramic actuator serves as a controllink between electrical input and pressureoutput as ollows:

    The input current (I/P) or voltage (E/P)signal is conditioned to provide a normalizedcontrol signal directly proportional to thedesired pressure output.

    Simultaneously the output o the pressuresensor is amplifed and conditioned to pro-duce a eedback signal.

    The sum o the control signal and the eed-

    back signal produce a command signal whichis delivered as a DC voltage to the piezo-ceramic actuator.

    As voltage increases, the orce applied by theactuator increases, so as to restrict nozzlebleed and thus increase pilot pressure.

    Increased pilot pressure applied to the servodiaphragm directly causes opening o thesupply valve and an increase in the outputpressure until the output eedback signal andcontrol signal combine to produce the correctcommand signal.

    Fine-Tuning Your Application

    For optimal per ormance in your application, thecalibration o the Type 2000 can be fne-tunedin the feld. An easily-removable cover providesaccess to the isolated electronics. All potenti-ometers, connections, jumpers, and switchesare clearly marked on the circuit board or onthe handy chart located on the inside o thecover. The three elements o calibration (Gain,Zero, and Span) are described below. Consultthe Type 2000 Users Manual or detailedcalibration procedures, cautions, and instrumen-tation requirements.

    Type 2000 Transducers

    Gain (Damping) Adjustment

    The output response o the Type 2000 can beoptimized or varying downstream volumes byadjusting the system gain o the control circuit.Adjust the Gain Pot counterclockwise or in-creased gain; clockwise or increased oscillatiodamping. For maximum allowable gain in yourapplication, the pot should be turned clockwiseuntil oscillation just disappears.

    Zero and Span Adjustments

    The Type 2000 contains multi-turn Coarse-ZeroFine-Zero, and Span adjustment potentiometers

    which are clockwise positive. Adjustment oeither Zero Pot changes the units minimumoutput while the Span Pot changes the maxi-mum output. The adjustments are interactive,so it may take iterations to reach the desiredcalibration.

    Wide Rangeability

    The Type 2000 can be feld calibrated to pres-sure ranges other than the standard ones bycombinations o recalibration, pressure rangeswitching, and split high/low ranging. A unitshould not be switched to a range outside itspressure sensor amily (eg., a 0-15 PSIG can be

    switched to a 3-15 PSIG, but not to 0-30 PSIG).(Caution: Do not exceed the range o the on-board pressure sensor.) For example, the easiestway to recalibrate a 0-30 PSIG unit to 3-15 psigwould be to change the switch setting to 3-27PSIG, then switch to split range low.

    Field-Selectable Features

    Onboard switches allow the user to easily recon-fgure the Type 2000 or any o several electricalinputs, direct/reverse acting, or output split-rang-ing high/low. Fine tuning o the units calibrationmay be necessary a ter a reconfguration.

    Direct/Reverse Acting

    Direct Acting transducers regulate to their minimum output when suppliedwith minimum input; maximum out with maximum in. Reverse Actingtransducers regulate to their maximum output at minimum input.

    Split Ranging (High or Low)

    The Type 2000 can be confgured to regulate either hal (top or bot tomo its normal output range, when supplied with its normal ull-ranginelectrical input. For example, a 0-10V 0-30 PSI unit set to split range lwill regulate 0-15 PSI @ 0-10V. It will regulate 15-30 PSI @ 0-10V isplit range high.

    Description

    The Type 5000 series is a compact , rugged andreliable amily o two-wire pressure transmit-ters designed or industrial feld service. Theseinstruments convert a signal pressure inputinto a precise 4-20 or 10-50mA output. Thelightweight transmitter housing includes a1/4 NPT pressure port and a 1/2 NPT conduitport or feld wiring. Connections are easilyaccessible simply by removing the top cover.Zero and span adjustments are available withinthe feld wiring compartment or fne, on-sitecalibration adjustment.

    The Type 5000 uses a unique, temperaturecompensated piezo resistive sensor suitable orgauge pressure measurement o non-corrosiveliquids and gases. The sensor has excellentdynamic response and is vir tually insensitiveto mounting orientation and ordinary industrialvibration. Mounting holes on the transmitterhousing are arranged to permit direct pipe (2")mounting or minimum installed cost.
