The World Golf Championships defined as the Olympics of Golf will beheld in Belek in 2012.

Turkey became the venue of this high-profile event in the voting held inAdelaide, Australia in 2008.

Turkey won 76 of 92 votes in the voting. Buenos Aires, Argentina is hosting the 2010 event. The World Amateur Team Championship is organized in a different

continent once in every two years. Almost 100 countries and regions are participating in the event with their

women's and men's teams made up of three players each.

Turkey has been awarded "Best Golf Destination of the year 2008" by theInternational Association of Golf Tour Operators.

The 2012 World Amateur Team Championships will be held at the Gloria

Golf Club, Cornelia Golf Club, and the Antalya Golf Club in Belek, the golf capital of Turkey .

The 25th womens championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy (golf championship for women organized by the International Golf Federationbiennially since 1964) and the 28th mens championship for theEisenhower Trophy will be played here in September of 2012.

More than 3,000 people, a third of who are players, will be staying inBelek for min. 15 days. Considering the general rule in golf that a happygolfer brings in 10 more golfer means that the tournament will bring over1 million golfers to Belek in 5 years time.

Turkish Golf Federation, established in 1996, is the youngest member of theInternational Golf Federation, to host the World Championships.

Belek is the youngest Golf Center that will host a World Championship,serving 41 high class accommodation establishments and 17 km of beautiful beaches.

During the golf season, Belek welcomes players mainly from Britain, France,Belgium, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland and Switzerland.
