BELATED January 11th February 10th The Hamilton Grange National Memorial, in partnership with the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society, will hold a belated Happy Birthday Hamilton! program since the site was closed on Hamilton’s birthday (January 11th) due to the NPS’ shutdown. Nicole Scholet de Villavicencio is a historian specializing in the Founding Era of the United States. She has spoken on the lives of Alexander and Eliza Hamilton at venues such as Hamilton Grange National Memorial, the Schuyler Mansion, and George Washington University Museum and has been featured on C-SPAN. Her talk will share insights on Alexander Hamilton’s early life in the Caribbean through the ex- amination of a letter that 12-year-old Hamilton wrote to his friend Edward Stevens. is letter, written 250 years ago, is the oldest extant letter written by Hamilton, and contains fascinating pronouncements of his later life. Talk will start at 1:00pm. Widely recognized for his contributions to the founding of our nation and the establishment of a sound financial and economic system, is talk uses historical evidence to reveal Hamilton as a warm, generous, emotional, and human individual who advocated respect for and equal treatment of all groups in society. Mariana Oller is Chair of the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society and Associate Curator of Special Collections at Wellesley College. Tom Oller is Vice Chair of the Alexander Hamilton A Society and Senior Lecturer in the Writing Program at Boston University. Talk will start at 11:00am.
