Home of the Grocers’ Company since 1426, Grocers’ Hall offers the unique combination of a classic venue, timeless and historical, with the latest audio visual technology.

Grocers’ Hall’s philosophy combines a commitment to quality with

personal service and attention to detail ensuring guests experience one

of the finest events venues in the heart of the City of London.

With the “exclusive use” policy and our dedicated in-house team, clients are

assured of bespoke event management and a complete professional service.

The merchants of the Guild bought and sold in gross weight, or “engrossed”,

a wide range of commodities from Byzantium and the Mediterranean.

The Guild was, for the first time, referred to as the Company of Grossers

in 1373. On 20th August 1376 the fraternity revised and amplified their

ordinances, describing themselves as the Grocers of London.

Ideal for small events. Perfect as an ante room

Taking its name from the abstract tapestry designed by John Piper in 1968, this

room strikes a more modern corporate feel, bathed in natural light. Adjoining the

Entrance Hall, the Piper Room offers flexibility to clients as either an ante room to the

Livery Hall or as an ideal setting for a smaller event. The room format can be varied

for different uses, including pre-dinner receptions and boardroom presentations.

The Bank of England’s Landlords

In 1694, the newly established

Bank of England took up residence

at Grocers’ Hall. It continued to be

the Company’s tenant until 1734.

The current Bank of England

is built on what was once part of

Since 1426, Grocers’ Hall has been home to the Worshipful Company of Grocers, and

so is steeped in history and City tradition. Nowadays, the Hall functions to provide our

members and clients with first-class facilities and a wonderful dining experience, in

addition to our charitable activities which is at the heart of the Grocers’ Company.

Our professional, in-house team of chefs offer a wealth of experience,

passion and flair. We ensure our clients receive the highest level of cuisine

and service to match their event. The personal attention to detail is unique

to each event ensuring we meet our singularly high standards.

Our menus reflect the team’s enthusiasm and dedication and are balanced by a marriage

of flavours and presentation incorporating the vital comments and feedback we receive

from our valued clients. Our Head Chef ensures we only source the finest quality

ingredients with full traceability and provenance on all meat, poultry and fish.

Our extensive cellars offer clients a diverse selection of wines, beers and spirits.

Personally selected and matched by our wine advisor, the choice and breadth

of styles complement your meal and ensure the success of any event.

Exclusive Hire of Grocers’ Hall

Hiring Grocers’ Hall includes exclusive use of the Livery Hall, Piper Room and smaller

Syndicate Rooms. The same rates apply whether using one or all of the rooms.

A surcharge is applied per hour, if the above times are exceeded. Organisations wishing to hire Grocers’ Hall should note that if no food is prepared from the Company’s listed menus, a ‘No Food’ catering supplement is applicable. In addition, all menus are priced on there being a minimum number of catering covers – please refer to each page. All prices quoted within this brochure are subject to change and to the standard rate of VAT.
