Company History
Foundation of Wernli AG: 1932
A story is told of Henry Dunant, the founder of the In-ternational Red Cross, that he first cut up his own shirt in order to bandage a wounded man. Since this selfless deed, the development of dressing materials has made huge strides, thanks in part to the efforts of Wernli AG. Jakob Wernli founded the company in 1932, when he started to produce the first bandages in his living room.
Successful product development: 1970s
Wernli AG reached a major milestone with the launch-ing of its coloured bandages in the 70s. These band-ages were first presented at a medical trade fair in Zurich and are now used across the world. Since then Wernli AG has innovated and developed its product range very successfully. Besides the coloured dress-ings, Wernli AG is also known for its cohesive and ad-hesive bandages. Together with the compression dressings these are the main product groups.
Company History Change of ownership: 2009
Felix Schönle took over Wernli AG in 2009 after the company has been managed by the third generation of the Wernli Family. Our new CEO further expanded Wernli AG’s business activities across the world. Since 2010 products are not only sold as private label but also under the brand name Wero Swiss®.
Corporate group expansion: since 2014
In 2014 the corporate group was restructured. Wernli AG was renamed Wero Holding AG and simultaneously production of bandages was moved to Wernli AG, Bandages. In 2015 a new subsidiary, Wero Swiss Amer-icas Inc., has been founded in Florida and is now re-sponsible for the product distribution in North and Latin America. Furthermore, in 2017 a production plant has been opened in Hungary under the name of Wero Swiss Med Kft.

Manufacturing ExpertiseManufacturing Expertise Warping
Only the finest natural yarns and best synthetic fibres result in a high-quality medical textile. We only pro-cess raw material from certified suppliers in Europe.
Thanks to universally usable warping systems, we can process the most diverse yarns. Customised produc-tion systems developed in-house are used to warp pure cotton products.
Single threads on up to 486 spools are processed to warping beams.
Weaving
The weaving department is the heart of the textile production. The production facility consists of looms for textile elastic bandages, bandages with rubber threads and for rigid technical bandages.
Fibre monitors automatically stop the weaving machine when a thread tears. Our long-term employees have a high level of material and technical expertise. Their accuracy, daily dedication and excellent manual skills are key to operate the looms and create a premium quality product.

Finishing
That is where textiles turn into precious medical prod-ucts. In compliance with the highest hygiene stand-ards, the semi-finished products are shrunk under steam, then heat dried, washed and bleached if re-quired, to achieve the desired elasticity.
Cohesive bandages are coated with natural latex or with a latex free adhesive. Adhesive bandages are pro-duced in three versions of adhesive strength.
The versatile manufacturing facilities guarantee a flexible, cost-effective production of small to large scale series and allow us to provide customised fini-shing options.
Packing
Final touches are made in the packing department. Whether it is cellophane wrapping, self-made medical clips, imprints, special labelling or shrinking according to sales units: we provide customised packing solutions! Our offering even includes mixed colour assortments. Despite modern machinery, a great deal of work is still made by hand. This includes the manual final inspection and quality control.
The full range of our bandages and tapes is also available in single or double sterile packing. The powerful ther-moforming machine works with heat and vacuum, accommodates almost all bandage sizes and allows for customer specific labelling. The actual sterilisation process is outsourced.

Innovative ProductsInnovative Products Coloured bandages
Wernli AG is famous for the most comprehensive range of coloured bandages. The attractive spectrum of trendy colours is particularly used in paediatrics, sports and retail. The colourfast bandages remain bright and brilliant even after washing.
Cohesive bandages
Cohesive bandages stick only to itself but not to the skin, hair or clothes. Their anti-slip properties make the bandage very economic in use and ideal for dress-ings on contoured and often moved body parts.
Adhesive bandages
Physiotherapists just love our coloured adhesive band-ages for treating sports injuries with support and func-tional dressings. Lymphologists appreciate the reliable and long-lasting adhesive force needed in permanent compression therapy.

Compression bandages
The prevalence rate of vein problems like chronic ve-nous insufficiency, varicose or thrombophlebitis are ever increasing. Good to know that Wernli AG has the optimal compression bandage for all patient condi-tions: from our flagship, the «LAN» short stretch bandage with a high working pressure, to different long-stretch bandages that are mainly used for bed-ridden patients. For every treatment we have a suita-ble compression bandage.
Sports products
Wernli AG is proud of the industry first Co-Tape. This innovation revolutionises the way of taping.
The bi-elastic tape can be stretched by 350%. While it protects and stabilises fingers, toes and small joints against sprains, strains and dislocations, it still allows the joints the full range of motion. Just perfect for goalkeepers and field players in all ball games, for climbing and martial arts.
