The dynamic comeback of the international fair for bakery, confectionery, machinery, raw ma-terials, equipment and ready-made products, ‘ARTOZYMA’ – last held in 2010 - responds to the increased needs of domestic bakery and confectionery companies, in order for them to create channels of cooperation with the neigh-boring Balkan countries. The selection of the city of Thessaloniki for the organization of the fair, on the one hand makes the access for the Balkan countries easier and on the other, enhance the dynamics of the fair as it is a city of great history in producing bakery products such as the famous koulouri (sesame bun) and bougatsa (filled puff pastry).

The 2016 event will include a particularly dy-namic program for inviting and hosting trade visi-tors from the broader region of SE Europe and group delegations of trade visitors, with special emphasis on the Balkan countries, covering the need for building partnerships and commercial contacts, with pre-arranged B2B meetings.The fair will be accompanied by a number of par-allel events held in cooperation with the Hellenic Federation of Bakers and important international organizations, aiming at attracting specialized visitors from Greece and abroad and promoting the fair worldwide. The targeted marketing – pro-motion actions in target-countries will play an important role, ensuring that visitors will have a purely commercial interest and safeguarding the commercial nature of the fair.

The 7th ARTOZYMA will be held concurrently with the ‘DETROP BOUTIQUE’ International Exhi-bition of Food, Beverages, Machinery, Equipment & Packaging from 26 to 29 February 2016 at Thessaloniki International Exhibition and Con-gress Center.

To conclude with, ARTOZYMA will be held un-der the auspices of the Hellenic Federation of Bakers and with the support of the Thessaloniki Bakers’ Union and the Thessaloniki Guild of Shop Owners and Confectioners.

07PARALLEL EVENTS

During the 7nd Artozyma, the 2nd National Bread Contest has been scheduled. The event was first held in 2010 in Thessaloniki. The idea is based on similar events held abroad during which the bakers work together in harmony, create and present their ideas to the public.

Aiming at bringing together this whole collective creativity which could mean the beginning of inspiration forming an educative workshop in order to give prominence to the art of making bread, Artozyma holds the 2nd National Bread Contest as the top parallel event.

After the quite successful first organization in 2010, this year the standards be-come even higher supporting the companies of the sector and helping them to pro-mote the Greek products abroad in such financially difficult period.

The organization of the National Bread Contest aims at:

>Promoting and upgrading “the art of dough in Greece, via a contest of making bread” as it is addressed to professionals and younger bakers

>Exploring, detecting and presenting the traditional and modern perspectives of creating baked products.

>Giving prominence, promoting and awarding the results derived from the profes-sional rivalry of the contestants.

>Creating a point of reference and knowledge, node of communication and learning for younger and older bakers, future bakers, suppliers and traders.

>The formation of a National Bakery Team aiming at taking part in international contests during similar bakery fairs, so as for the Greek bread varieties and types to be distinguished.

>Establishing an organization of national – and beyond that - level which will be a source of creation for new trends, contribute to the professional progress of the sector and constitute a corporate testament for the future generations of bakers in Greece.
