What is “badge attire?”

• Badge attire can best be described as business casual.

• Clothing that works well for the beach, yard work, dance clubs, exercise sessions, and sports contests is not appropriate for badge attire.

• Clothing that reveals too much cleavage, your chest, your stomach, or your underwear is not appropriate for badge attire.

• Clothing should be pressed and never wrinkled. Torn, dirty, or frayed clothing is unacceptable. Any clothing that has words, terms, or pictures that may be offensive is unacceptable.

What is “badge attire”?

• Badge attire does not need to be a full suit. However, clothing worn with the badge should be appropriate for the average business workplace setting.

• Shoulders should be covered. Sleeveless tops may be appropriate if they are modest. Spaghetti straps, however, are not badge attire. A simple cardigan can be used to cover the shoulders.

• Modest shoes are also required. Flip flops, sneakers, UGGs, and other non-business shoes are not appropriate.

Examples of badge attire…

• Shoulders are covered.

• The dress is not too revealing.

• The dress length is appropriate.

• The shoes are professional.


• The shoulders are covered with a short sleeve.

• The V-neck remains appropriate. It does not dip too low.

• The length is appropriate.



• This is an unconventional suit. It would not be considered business attire, but works great for business casual.

• Shoulders are, again, covered.

• The skirt hits right above the knee.

• The belt holds the skirt up so that no undergarments are revealed.


• Dresses like this are easy to wash and generally remain wrinkle-free.

• Shoulders are, again, covered.

• The dress hits right above the knee.


• The straps for this shirt show modest shoulder.

• Just in case, a cardigan can easily cover the shoulders.

• The sleeves cover the shoulders.

• The neck line is not too low.

• Shoulders are covered. The cardigan allows for this outfit to transition to cooler weather.

• The pants are trousers. They are not jeans or leggings ,or any combination of the two.

• The scarf helps to make the outfit unique and can be great in the cold.


Badge attire shoes

• Shoes should be professional.

• No sneakers, snow boots, flip flops, etc.

• Heels should be moderate. They should be acceptable in the workspace.

• Shoes do not need a heel. Wedges and flats are great alternatives.

What NOT to wear:

Leggings, jeans, and jeggings are never appropriate for business casual.

What NOT to wear:

Short dresses and skirts are not appropriate. If you need to wear leggings under a dress or skirt to cover yourself, you should not be wearing it as business casual.

What NOT to wear:

If you would wear your outfit in a club setting, or if it reveals too much skin, it is not considered business casual.

What NOT to wear:

Shoes should be modest and professional. If you would not wear them with a suit, you should not wear them for badge attire.

Where should it be worn?

Badge attire should be worn at: Formal chapter meetings Pledge Service Loyalty Service Founders Day Grand Convention meetings Any other gathering where ritual is performed

It can also be worn at: Most jobs (it can sometimes be worn for the job

interview) Business functions Formal meetings Meetings with advisors or university personnel
