Back-to-School Checklist 2017–18
Please see the summer timeline below to help you plan for the 2017–18 school year.
June
Get books for summer reading. Check the appropriate tab (Lower School, Middle
School, Upper School) on the BTS Portal for your son’s summer reading list.
Schedule the annual physical. Download and fill out or have your son’s physician fill
out the health forms located on the All-School tab of the BTS Portal, but please do not
submit the forms at this time (see August).
Send contact information changes. If your address or contact information changes,
please email [email protected] for inclusion online and in our printed directory.
Check preseason athletics requirements (US only). The specific dates for each sport
can be found on the Upper School tab of the BTS Portal under “Important Dates.”
Note our late start days, winter break and other calendar highlights for 2017-
18. This can be found on the All-School tab of the BTS Portal under “Important Dates.”
Know your orientation dates (new students and those entering Grades 6 and
9). Check the appropriate tab (Lower School, Middle School, Upper School) on the BTS
Portal for these dates.
July
Sign up for a vehicle access sticker. Please fill out and submit the online Vehicle
Access Sticker Request Form, located on the All-School tab of the BTS Portal under
“Resources,” for any vehicle that will be driven on campus and does not already have a
sticker.
Check course lists for your student. (Middle and Upper School only; hard copies
mailed in mid-July)
Purchase books through MBS Direct. (Middle and Upper School only; shared at the
end of July)
Sign up for year-round bus transportation if needed. (Emailed mid-July)
Check your login and password information. You will receive login info for our
website (academic portals), FACTS (tuition and other payments), and Magnus (health
forms). (Emailed mid-July)
Add Landon email to your safe sender list. Here’s how.
Sign up for calendar and news alerts. Here’s how.
August
Submit health forms electronically (NEW this year). Please fill out forms and upload
documents to our online Health Portal after you receive your login info in mid-July.
Forms must be in by August 1.
Log in to our directory. You will have access to app and website directories. Printed
directories will be handed out at Back-to-School nights.
Sign up for emergency alerts. (Emailed early August)
Check for carpools (NEW this year). This program will help you find families near
you. (Emailed early August)
Buy dress-code items. Check the “Frequently Asked Questions” document under the
“Resources” tab on the Lower, Middle and Upper School tabs of the BTS Portal for
information about each division’s dress code. Landon Threads, which offers gently used
dress-code attire, will be open during orientation to help you get your student’s wardrobe
ready. Dates and times will be posted in early August.
September
Note our opening day. The first day of school is Tuesday, September 5. More
information to follow.
Check your report card logins. You will receive an email with your Ereports login,
which you will use only to access your son’s grades.
