Lambaste Verb To reprimand or berate harshly;
censure; excoriate. On a show called Bad Girls Club, the
girls continued to lambaste each other constantly over nonsense.
Impasse Noun A position or situation which there is no
escape; deadlock. We were going to be in an impasse if
we didn’t do our community service, knowing we would have to repeat the grade.
Jargon Noun Unintelligible or meaningless talk or
writing; gibberish. Every time I have a conversation with a
gang member, it is always jargon words coming out their mouth.
Deter Verb To discourage or restrain from acting or
proceeding. In class, people cant deter the reckless
things they do which causes them to get in trouble.
Tenuous Adjective Lacking a sound basis, as reasoning;
unsubstantiated; As the conversation went on, the
argument became more tenuous because they had no proof.
Vigorous Adjective Energetic; forceful When Tiana is about to race she is
vigorous as they line up in the heats.
Gravitas Noun Seriousness or sobriety When Mrs. Ryan is teaching her class
she had a sense of gravitas, making sure that everything is taken seriously.
Emphatic Adjective Assertive, confident I felt very emphatic when I auditioned
for the school play because I knew I had fit all the standards to win the role.
Vehement Adjective Strong feeling, forceful, passionate His feelings were very vehement when
he purposed to her at the dinner table.
Preeminent Adjective Superior, outstanding, above the rest My performance seemed very
preeminent due to all the great remarks I got that night.
Resurgence Noun Rising or tending to rise again. When I seen John resurgence against
Abigail's lies it surprised me.
Amity Noun Friendship Kyiara and I don’t get along all the
time, therefore we do not have amity that our parents approve of.
