QQI is responsible for the external quality assurance of further and higher education andtraining (including English language provision) and validates programmes and makesawards for certain providers in these sectors.

QQI is also responsible for the maintenance, development and review of the NationalFramework of Qualifications (NFQ).

Since its establishment, QQI has been progressing the development of its qualificationsand quality assurance services. In May 2013, QQI rolled out a Comprehensive PolicyDevelopment Programme through a number of large public events and an extensiveconsultation process.

Through MCFE learners will complete prescribed assignments and assessment and/orexams in order to receive the relevant FETAC/QQI awards. Results for all QQI/FETACassessment will be posted to respective learners in June of each year, with a graduationceremony taking place with a later in the year.
