Delivering rapid response to mission-critical requirements.

U.S. warfighters stationed in the United States and abroad frequently have urgent demands for spare vehicle parts to meet maintenance requirements and to ensure the readiness of combat vehicles. To ensure timely, cost-effective response to these needs, the Defense Logistics Agency’s Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) has established several prime vendor programs designed to create flexible, integrated supply networks for vehicle parts and other crucial material and services.

For more than 10 years, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has performed streamlined acquisition and delivery of vehicle parts under these contracts. In 2003, SAIC was awarded the Automotive Prime Vendor Worldwide (APVW) program to continue our support for U.S. military customers worldwide.

SAIC’s APVW recognition is in part due to the high level of customer satisfaction SAIC created through our work on a predecessor contract for Department of Defense (DoD) and DSCC customers.

Through APVW, SAIC sources, purchases, and delivers a wide range of commercial, industrial, and tactical ground vehicle parts to U.S. military locations both in CONUS and OCONUS, including Iraq, Kuwait, Korea, Iceland, Japan, Germany, Greenland, Saudi Arabia, Honduras, Bosnia, and Italy.

SAIC’s APVW support provides:

• World-class e-commerce capabilities that integrate with the Military Standard Issue and Requisition Procedures (MILSTRIP) requisitioning system for quick and efficient order fulfillment

• Expedited delivery of national stock numbered items, Contractor and Government Entity (CAGE) sourced orders and part number requisitions in a price list format through electronic data interchange

• Spot-buy services to help locate low-volume and hard-to-obtain items

• Technical assistance to facilitate the order process and to help ensure smooth transactions.

• Unique, part-numbered (non-standard) vehicle maintenance kits

• Customer service support to nearly 2,000 end users around the globe

• A material acceptance rate of 99.99%

• More than half of all material procured for the program is bought from small businesses

For each delivery, SAIC inspects, packages, and marks all product and shipping containers, with the option of shipment to specified consolidated containerization points or directly to specific bases or overseas locations in the event that a customer requires support tailored to satisfy its requirements.

Few types of military material are more vital than components of the vehicles warfighters trust in and out of combat. SAIC’s APVW program solutions lower the cost and difficulty of delivering much-needed vehicle parts to military customers around the globe. To learn more, contact us today.
