AutoCAD Drawing Cleanup Procedure This procedure is recommended for all xref drawings before starting a project with CADPIPE. This is for the architect’s drawings that will be your xrefs Open drawing from architect Turn on all, unfreeze and unlock all layers Erase all the items that you will not need Zoom Extents Select erase and select the whole drawing, do not hit enter or you will erase everything, type in R and enter and reselect the whole drawing again and then hit enter Purge the drawing Type –Purge on the Command Line, A for All and Enter Enter name(s) to purge <*>: Enter Verify each name to be purged? [Yes/No] <Y>: N Type –Purge again on the Command Line, R for Regapps and Enter Enter name(s) to purge <*>: Enter Verify each name to be purged? [Yes/No] <Y>: N Audit the drawing and fix the errors Wblock or copy and paste the remaining items to a blank drawing or company template drawing Note: If you use Wblock make sure you check explode when inserting the drawing Option: Change the color of the background to color 8 Option: To cut back on layers you can make a layer and move all the layers onto that 1 layer and then purge out the layers again Close the original Architect drawing without saving This is for a drawing that has an issue after the xrefs are attached Detach all xrefs Turn on all, unfreeze and unlock all layers Zoom Extents Select erase and select the whole drawing, do not hit enter or you will erase everything, type in R and enter and reselect the whole drawing again and then hit enter.
