Roshan & Rohan attended the TFMC State Festival and each received the highest rating of OUTSTANDING.

Rohan received the prestigious award of ALL STATE WINNER in his group.

I am accepting twenty participants for this performance. Participants receive 100 points and a ribbon. You may do one or two pieces of your choice. Please select songs that you already know how to play or sing.

PIANO BENCHER’S OPEN

The Piano Bencher’s Open is held at my studio (my house) and will be on Sunday, October 27, 2013. The performances for the qualified judge will begin at 4:00 PM.

Each participant will receive an immediate 100 points. In addition to the annual trophy, the Piano Bencher’s Open trophy will be awarded at the Spring Pageant next May.

You will be required to play one memorized piece for the judge. You will receive a rating and comment sheet signed by the judge.

The entry fee of $15.00 and the ENTRY FORM at the end of this letter are due on or before October 6, 2013.

You will receive the performance schedule by October 13, 2013. If you have special needs for your performance time, please write it on your entry form.

PIANO BENCHER’S OPEN COSTUME CONTEST

If you would like to participate in the Piano Bencher’s Open Costume Contest, simply wear any costume for your performance. (It does not have to match your song.)

I will take your picture and it will be posted in my studio for one week following the Piano Bencher’s Open. Everyone who comes into the studio during that week will be permitted one vote for his/her favorite costume. Cash prizes of $10.00, $7.00, and $5.00 will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

THE TFMC DISTRICT FESTIVAL

Anyone at Level C or above may participate in the Texas Federation of Music Clubs Jr. Festival in the spring. The date is Saturday, March 1, 2014.

You will be required to perform two pieces for a TFMC judge. I will help you select your music. [one piece from the required list and one by a foreign composer of your choice] (Continued)

NEXT YEAR’S ANNUAL SPRING PAGEANT

Next year’s Spring Pageant is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Plaza Theatre in old down town Garland. The theme is “Snow In May”.

You may start making your list of winter activities or things that you enjoy. It can be sincere or silly. I will be creating music and song titles from your lists.

I will be accepting only fifty solo acts for the show. The first fifty participants to pay their $60.00 (non-refundable) registration fee will be included in the show. I will be accepting as many as six duet / trio / quartet acts. This will keep the show at a nice duration length.

I plan to have my original compositions ready in late November. If you are interested in playing a DUET please inform me immediately so that I can write a piece for you. The duet can be parent/child, siblings, or friends. You will receive more details in the December newsletter. TRIO and QUARTET explained in next paragraph.

KEYBOARD ENSEMBLE DISCONTINUED

I am discontinuing the keyboard ensemble. Instead there will be one or more keyboard TRIOS or QUARTETS. This will make the stage and sound set-up much less complicated and the stage will be clean and clear. If you are interested in participating in one of the trios, please inform me and I will provide you with a practice CD in February. We will take a few minutes from your class each week to work on it. You must be a Level F student and good at counting to participate in one of the groups.

You will be required to rehearse on the two Sundays before our Spring Pageant as well as arriving early to rehearse and do a sound check at the theatre on the day of the show.

VOCAL ENSEMBLE

If you are interested in participating in the vocal ensemble please inform me and I will provide you with a practice CD and lyrics in February. We will take a few minutes from your class each week to work on it. You will be required to come early to the theatre for the pre-show rehearsal and sound check.
