DEACON JOE JOHN WILSON, SR.

It is with sadness that we record the passing of our dear brother in Christ, Joe John Wilson,Sr., who departed this life September 2, 1954. He was born October 14, 1895, in Thomas County, near Boston, Georgia, the son of the late W. Henry and Hattie Stanaland Wilson.

In his early manhood, about 1916, Brother Wilson joined the Primitive Baptist Church atBoston, Georgia, then under the pastoral care of the late Elder J. Marshall Thomas, where he wasordained a deacon. He moved to Atlanta and on December 20, 1925, placed his Church letterwith the Atlanta Primitive Church, then under the pastoral care of Elder Virgil F. Agan. At thetime of his death, he was senior deacon of this Church.

On August 16, 1927, Brother Wilson was married to Jamie Agnes DeVane of Jennings,Florida, who survives him. To this union was born two sons, Joe John, Jr., and Loren Henry, whoare leaders in all our Church activities

Brother Wilson was a sufferer for many years; in his affliction he learned much self-controland patience. His fatherly admonition at all times was to avoid hasty words; his main thoughtswere constantly to keep peace among the brethren, to promote good human relationships in thehome, Church and community, to get along with people. He was a peacemaker.

Many are the compliments that have been passed on to our deceased member, Brother inChrist and friend, as a kind, upright, sincere and noble Christian character; perhaps no otherstatement declares more accurately and sincerely the truth regarding him than the oft repeatedexpression that he lived more closely to his Lord than most of us and as close to him as anyonewe had known.

Elders Virgil F. Agan and Charles C. Carrin conducted funeral services September 4, 1954, atthe Atlanta Primitive Baptist Church. Interment was in the Decatur Cemetery.

Resolved that one copy of this memorial shall be entered into the Church record, one sent tothe family and one to the Banner-Herald for publication.

Sisters Lonnie A, Warnock and Roger A. Sims; Brother Charles E. Scott and Elder Virgil F.Agan.Committee.

DEACON MICHAEL EASON EVERETT

Forasmuch as God our Father, has taken from our midst and our services our brother anddeacon, Michael Eason Everett, Sr. we prepare this resolution.

After an illness of more than a year, Brother Everett passed away October 10, 1958, at theage of 66. He had been a member more than seventeen years. His dignified, experienced andunselfish manner promoted good will, wisdom, consecration and good business management inour church organization. Having served a useful life in business positions as Clerk of the Court inCandler County in his young Manhood, then several years at Dublin with the Credit ProductionCorporation and Federal Land Bank, followed by his removal to Atlanta in 1939 as Manger andlater as Regional Director of the ReconstructionFinance Corporation gave him a wide experience in business and in financial management, Hiswise counsel had guided us through the years and into our present Church building program, giving satisfaction and promoting understanding and unity among his Brethren.

We wish to acknowledge the goodness and blessing of Almighty God in granting to us theacquaintance and the blessing of his membership and service with us through many years.Among his brother Deacons, he left a pattern of proper conduct of church business, ofconsideration of all concerned and of wise conclusions. As Chairman of our Board of Deacons, all committees appointed to carry on other activities of the church sought his counsel. Even in hisdeep affliction, right up to the last, as Chairman on our Building Committee, he was interestedeach day to know the progress of our construction. His life and service with us was such that hedeparted in the highest esteem of his fellow members.

Brother Everett leaves three brothers and three sisters; his wife, Sister Marie, who is amember with us; one son, Mike E. Everett, Jr., of Atlanta; one daughter, Mrs. Mary JeanneBlackburn of DeLand, Florida; one grandson and granddaughter. His passing preceded by fivedays the birth of another little granddaughter.

We acknowledge the kind Providences of Almighty God in all His dealings with us and wewish to be submissive to this sorrow and loss with our humble petition that God will enable us tocontinue the work before us.

May the rich blessing of God rest and abide upon Sister Marie and all the relatives who mournhis going.
