Starting with new design ideas and lifestyle suggestions from each exhibitor, as well as a thorough factory tour.

The installation in the main convention space will be designed by Paris-based architect Tsuyoshi Tane (DGT), whose works

can be found all over the world. In addition, this year's official party will feature an abundance of Asahikawa's delicious food.

We are preparing an event that can be enjoyed by not just those in the interior/architecture/design/craft world, but by the

general public as well. This year Asahikawa Design Week aims to once more create a design "communication space" to

showcase the charm of Asahikawa's wooden furniture and spark conversation about the possibilities of local craftsmanship.

Special exhibition of a collection by international chair expert Mr. Noritsugu OdaMr. Noritsugu Oda (professor emeritus of Tokai Univers i ty ) is a renowned expert on chairs from around the world and ha s a l a rge co l l e c t i on o f Scand inav i an m id - c en tu ry cha i r s f r om des i gner s such a s Hans J . Wegner , Borge Mogensen and F inn Juh l . We wi l l ho ld a spec ia l exh ib i t i on o f h i s co l l ec t i on a t the Cha i rs Ga l l e ry in Asah ikawa , where you can see how chair designs have changed over the generations .

Profile of Tsuyoshi Tane1979: Born in Tokyo2002 - 2005: Graduating from the department of architecture, faculty of engineering of the Hokkaido Tokai University, and gaining his careers at the Royal Danish Academy, Henning Larsens Architects in Denmark, and Adjaye Associates in London2006: Establishing his own business, DGT (DORELL.GHOTMEH.TANE / ARCHITECTS), with Dan Dorell (Italy) and Lina Ghotmeh (Lebanon) in Paris, and internationally receiving attention by winning the 1st prize in the international competition for the design of the New Estonian National Museum (completion in 2016) and being a finalist of the “New National Stadium International Design Competition”.Present: Undertaking some projects mainly in Europe, winning a lot of awards such as the NAJAP French Ministry of Culture Architecture Prize, Architects Association of Milan Prize, and MILAN DESIGN AWARD 2014 (two awards), and teaching at GSAPP, Columbia University.Master pieces: A House for OISO, TORAYA PARIS, CITIZEN ‒ LIGHT is TIME, and so on.
