Colour value scheme

In the exercise, we are going to review the pigment colours present ina colour wheel. In this case, you have to make up your own withprimary and secondary colours but looking for obtain progressivechanges of value (adding white little by little). It is very important touse a thin brush for the silhouette of the circle. Pay attention to mixcolours carefully in order to achieve a good value scheme.

UNIT 7worksheet 7.5

Light and volume

“Johannes Item wrote “the contrast between light and dark is one of the most expressive andimportant means of composition.” Value contrast can be encountered in both colorful and non-colorful art renderings.” All neutral tones from white, black and all the gray tones between arecalled achromatic, meaning having no color. All tones that have some color are call chromatic. When investigating art in all its components, you must consider the relationship of value toother art elements, color, line texture and shape. All these elements must exhibit some valuecontrast in order to remain visible.” text and image extracted fromhttp://www.artinstructionblog.com/drawing-lesson-a-theory-of-light-and-shade

Draw different compositions proposed by your teacher in theclassroom . Pay attention to shades created on the objects and try tostablish values of light and shades.

“One of the most used and useful applications of value is creating the illusion ofvolume and mass on a two dimensional surface. When a mass is exposed to light, a solid objectwill receive more light from one side than another when that side is closer to the light source”
