• The foreign language requirement is a one-year sequence. It is strongly suggested that students seeking abachelor's degree complete the sequence within a three-semester period. Students, who have completed three yearsofa language at the high school level, including a passing grade on a New York State Level III RegentsExamination, are exempt from the foreign language requirement. Transfer students who can provide docwnentationshowing they have successfully completed one year of a foreign language on the college level may have fulfilled theforeign language requirement.

Please note: Students who can provide documentation of a high school degree from a foreign country and whoseprimary language is not English are exempt from the foreign language requirement but are not awarded any creditsfor that language. Students who receive a grade of three or higher on the Advanced Placement Examination in highschool are exempt from the foreign language requirement and will be awarded 6 credits, which may be appliedtoward a minor in a foreign language. Credit by examination (up to a maximum of 6 credits) or exemptinn byexamination may be obtained by taking the CLEP examination.

•• Bergen CC transfers may not take this course, and their transferred credits for CRJ 113 at Bergen do not counttoward satisfying the Category C requirement
