Short Forms of the Possessive Adjectives:
Place BEFORE the noun: su carro
mine: mío /a/os/as yours: tuyo /a/os/as his/her/your: suyo /a/os/as ours: nuestro /a/os/as your: vuestro /a/os/as their/you (pl): suyo /a/os/as
Long Forms of the Possessive Adjectives:
Place AFTER the noun: el carro es suyo
Long Forms of the Possessive Adjectives:
Place AFTER the noun: el carro es suyo
Unless it is in a question: ¿Es suyo el carro?
Place BEFORE the noun: su carro
Short Forms of the Possessive Adjectives:
1. This is my car.
2. This car is mine.
3. His car is fast.
4. That car is hers.
5. Their car is red.
6. This car is theirs.
Translate:
Éste es mi carro.
Este carro es mío.Su carro es rápido.Ese carro es suyo.Su carro es rojo.
Este carro es suyo.
Since su/sus, suyo/a/os/as have so many meanings, you need to use
NOUN + DE to clarify
su carro; el carro suyo:
his carher car
you guys’ cartheir caryour car
el carro de élel carro de ellael carro de ustedel carro de ellos/as
el carro de ustedes
When the noun is obvious, you can create a possessive pronoun with the long forms:
His car is red and mine is black.
Su carro es rojo y el mío es negro.
1. His car is fast, but mine is elegant.
2. Their house is dirty; ours is clean.
3. Her parents are young; theirs are old.
Translate:
Su carro es rápido pero el mío es elegante.
Su casa está sucia; la nuestra está limpia.
Los padres de ella son jóvenes; los de ellos son mayores.
