    INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTION

    - Bone has its own mechanism to ward off the unnatural

    forces and keep itself intact.

    - but, if the force is :

    -too large and occurs suddenly(as in MVA, fall etc), OR

    - chronic and repetitive (eg prolonged standing/used);

    OR

    - when the natural resistance of the bone is eroded by

    a disease process (eg tumor, infection etc),

    that a bone succumbs to the insult and breaks.

    - When it breaks, it is bound to injure the surrounding soft

    tissue like muscles, ligaments etc.
