What is the new motor?

The new AMI modular induction motor series is based on a standardized platform with many options enabling it to be optimized for best production efficiency for every application in any industry segment. It is the next step in the modular induction motor evolution that combines all experience gathered from its successful predecessors.

What are the main features?

- Frame sizes IEC 560, 630, 710, 800, 900- Power up to 23 000 kW up to 31 000 HP- Voltage up to 13.8 kV- Frequency 50 & 60 Hz- Number of poles 2 - 20- Speed Fixed & variable speed- Mounting Horizontal & vertical- Ambient temper. -50C to +60C -58F to +140F

The new modular induction motor series allows air-to-water and air-to-air cooling as well as weather protected design, with corresponding protection grades spanning from IP24W up to IP56. Its many options and the great flexibility makes it possible to tailor the motor for any application, industry and ambient condition.

Great efforts have resulted in very low noise and vibration levels. As standard all motors have noise level below 82 dB(A), optional designs provide even lower levels. Bearing housing vibration levels are kept low to enable fulfilment of the latest IEC and NEMA.

The high efficiency option allows the motors to be optimized for minized energy consumption and highest productivity.

Motors have form wound windings with Micadur Compact Industry Insulation System, insulation class F (155C).

The motors are environmentally sound and sustainable. Special attention has been paid to material and paint selection. High operational efficiency supports the efforts to reduce the production of CO

2.

What is new for variable speed drive motors?

Stiff shaft design is now available also for 2-pole variable speed drive motors. Stiff shaft ensures low vibrations through the entire speed range, i.e. from 0 rpm to maximum rated speed, since the first critical speed is higher than the rated maximum speed.

From an insulation point of view the design yields very moderate voltage stresses between winding elements even when the motors are supplied by a frequency converter. Therefore all motors are well adapted for low and medium voltage converters.
