all abilities. limitless possibilities.

Letter from the ChairDear Friends,

Each year, I am more inspired by the clients and families this organization impacts throughout the state of Wisconsin. As my time serving as the Chair of Board of Directors comes to a close, I'd like to take this opportunity to reflect on a few accomplishments that have been made during this past year. In collaboration with board members, VIPs, various committees, volunteers, and staff, each of our major events exceeded budget! As we enter into the next fiscal year, we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Golf Outing for Kids, our largest fundraiser which has raised over $2.6 million since its inception. This past July we held our quarterly board meeting at Camp Wawbeek and in celebration of our new climbing tower and zip lines, we spontaneously raised $2,600 for Easter Seals Wisconsin. What better way to wrap up my term of service? I am honored to continue serving alongside such generous board members and continue to be astonished by their commitment to this organization.

I am again delighted to report to you on the continuing success of meeting our mission at Easter Seals Wisconsin. With your compassionate support, we continue to provide help, hope, and answers for individuals with disabilities as well as their families, whose needs cannot be overlooked. We are inspired by the life-changing outcomes of our services, our advocacy, and the economic impact that our programs and services offer to individuals, families, and communities. Although we are providing the opportunity and expertise, the people we serve give back with personal growth, independence, confidence, and triumphs.

As you will read in the following report, our programs have again excelled at meeting the needs of our communities. Camp Wawbeek and Respite Camp served close to 2,000 campers combined. Our FARM Program served 438 farmers. The Self-Employment Services program and the Disability Helpline of Outagamie County continue to assist and guide adults with disabilities toward independence and self-sufficiency.

The management, staff, and volunteers of Easter Seals Wisconsin are truly remarkable people, accomplishing exceptional results in the face of an ever-changing environment. We know there will be challenges we must face and that change is inevitable, and that the work at Easter Seals Wisconsin is first and foremost about the people we serve, their families, and their communities. It is through your generosity and partnership that the foundation for our continuing success has been built.

We thank you for your kindness and support and promise to continue to deliver the preeminent programs you can be proud of.

Camp ProgramsMISSION: Easter Seals Wisconsin Camps exist to provide a place where our campers will always experience respect, receive the hightest standard of care and support, and through this be given opportunities to grow and try new things because they feel safe and supported.

Camp Wawbeek offers a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for people with disabilities while giving respite to their families and/or caregivers. With fun being one of the top priorities, campers also gain new skills, report increased independence, and have the opportunity to make lifelong friends who can provide a year-round network of social support.

Wisconsin Elks/Easter Seals Respite Camp is the only statewide, overnight respite program in the state. Most Respite campers have severe cognitive, physical, or behavioral disabilities and many are medically fragile, highly disruptive, or cannot be left alone. This camp offers a safe and nurturing place with individualized support and care, providing that all-important break for caregivers. See social media post on page 10.

AmeriCorps Partnership is an integral part of Easter Seals Wisconsin Camps. To successfully serve nearly 2,000 campers throughout the year, it takes a great commitment to provide support and care needed for our campers. In 2018-2019, 45 AmeriCorps members served year-round at both Camp Wawbeek and Respite Camp.

Veterans Family Camp is held twice a year, serving military veterans and their families, at no charge! Families have the time to reconnect and veterans can find a support network all while having a fun, relaxing, fully accessible getaway. In 2018-2019, we served 188 veterans and family members.

FARM Program client Ray Scott hosted a Neighbor to Neighbor meeting at his Darlington farm in August. These meetings are held three times a year at various locations offering a unique opportunity for farmers to network and meet industry professionals while sharing their experiences, challenges, and successes. Guest speakers included representatives from the Wisconsin Farm Center and Lafayette County - UW, Agricultural Extension.

VocationalServicesMISSION: Provide assistance to people with disabilities through two primary vocational services (Self-Employment Services and the FARM Program) by helping them to successfully explore and pursue employment options. In both programs, Rehabilitation Specialists provide guidance and support, recommend methods of accommodating disabilities, help identify community resources including referrals to funding sources, and provide awareness training and education.

Self-Employment Services works one-on-one with entrepreneurs with disabilities to evaluate, develop, and implement their business plan to achieve their goal of starting their own business. In 2018-2019, the program worked with 6 individuals to help their dream of owning a business come true.

The Farm Assessment and Rehabilitation Methods (FARM) Program has specialized in helping farmers return to farming after a disabling illness or injury, or continue farming with a chronic condition. The program offers resources and support to help people achieve their goals of developing a successful farm operation or even begin an agricultural career.

This highly-regarded program serves as the national model for similar programs, not only in methods used and success rates, but also because

of their successful partnership with the Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), and with UW-Extension to

form AgrAbility of Wisconsin. The FARM Program provides DVR with on-site assessments and rehabilitation plans

for eligible farmers. The program served 438 farmers in 2018-2019.

The FARM Program and DVR have teamed together to create a program called Exploring Job Options in Rural

Wisconsin, a course for high school students with disabilities that are interested in agriculture. The course is focused on

connecting their interest with a related industry career path which the student may not realize is available. In the course, students are provided with materials and opportunities to make career connections in their communities. This includes tours of local agricultural businesses, guest speakers, interviewing skills, and exploring possibilities for trial work experience. During 2018-2019, 44 students in total participated in the program, from around the state.

Some business tours included Marathon Feed where students explored opporunities in divisions such as truck driver, bagger, mill worker, administration, agronomist and nutritionist. They also toured Wagner Tree Farm where they learned about the Christmas tree business.

Additional ServicesDisability HelpLine of Outagamie County was created through a bequest from Loretta K. Ricker and serves people with disabilities in Outagamie County.

In 2018-2019, 871 children and adults with disabilities received assistance through the HelpLine in five core areas:

Information and assistance for disability-related needs Financial assistance for disability-related equipment Parent support groups for caregivers of children with disabilities Social/recreational programming for families with a family member with autism Guardianship Training Program

Avenues to Understanding is a disability awareness educational program offered free of charge to public and private schools as well as community groups throughout the state. The comprehensive curriculum, created to foster understanding and acceptance, offers units for young people ages 3-18. Download a copy directly from our website at:edu.eastersealswisconsin.com.

Sharing the Love!Ben, with you at camp we were able to eat dinner out.

We don't eat out often; it's so rare I can tell you each

time we've done this...it is when you're at Easter Seals

Camp. I feel guilty you aren't with us, yet taking you to

a rooftop restaurant is out of the question. You crave

heights, always have. You have zero sense of danger

and you'd likely want to go to the edge, look over, climb

over, and it's hard to handle your now 6'1" body. So,

this works. You are happily at camp and we are able to

do such a simple thing as eating out. You are missed

though. I will never stop wishing you could do this

with us. I will never stop hoping for "some day" while

balancing gratitude that you're thriving at camp. We

miss you.
