Annual Flower Guide 2020
2 Annual Flower Guide - 2020 adamsfarms.com
Every summer I get excited about the next spring. Mark and I visit trial gardens in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire where we can see new introductions. In addition, several companies
send us samples of plants that will be available the following year. These are planted in 10" pots in our greenhouse, those that can be planted in the ground go into my large garden, and many are arranged in containers
so that I can see how the plants “play with others”.
I take a lot of notes and choose the best performing plants that will be sold at Adams. This booklet tells a little about the flowers we offer: growth habit (which helps when planning for a container),
light requirement (full sun, at least 6 hours per day), pollinators they attract and those that deer don’t like.
Annual flowers are those with flower power. They’ll bloom from spring to frost and give you lots of enjoyment throughout the spring and summer.
Flowers, like us, need food. Don’t forget to fertilize. Spreading petunias can grow an inch a day! Like teenage boys, they need their nourishment. Your flowers will thank you for your care by growing full and lush.
Enjoy and take photos to look at during the cold winter months.
