GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION: The summer school classes will be held at Trinity College, Ireland's oldest university, founded in 1592, and home of the Book of Kells. Apart from its historical importance, the college, with its cobbled courtyards and squares, in the centre of the capital city, is located at a convenient place to start a course of Irish studies.

FACULTY: Lectures, seminars and field trips will be given by teaching staff from University College Dublin and Trinity College, with several guest speakers for specialist topics.

CLASS SCHEDULE: Seminars will take place in the mornings, leaving most afternoons free for independent exploration and activities, apart from special cultural visits. Theatre performances and music sessions will be in the evenings.

TRAVEL: Participants should make their own travel arrangements to Ireland. On arrival, all participants receive a two-week travel pass for Dublin's bus and rail system. The programme will also provide assistance and suggestions for weekend and extended travel while you are in Ireland.
