Semana Santa kag Piesta

Ngaa mga Kristyano kita? Maykaangtanan ini paagi sa pulong niApostol Pablo. 1 Co 1:23 “Apang amonginawali si Kristo nga nalansang,kaupangan sa mga Judio kagkabuangan sa mga Griyego.” Konbuot silingon ang paghigugma maykabuangan. Indi bala si Apostol Pablonagpabutyag sang pinakatahum ngadulot sang paghigugma? 1 Cor 13nagasabat sa walay tupong ngapaghigugma. Si Papa Benedict XVInaghatag sang iya sulat “DeusCaritas”. Kay ang akon gotamahapos kag akon kargamamag-an.” Sa malip-ot ngapulong, ang matuod ngapaghigugma wala nagapabudlay.

2. Mat 21:19 Kag nakita ni Jesus angkahoy nga higera sa dalan.Ginpalapitan kag wala maynakita nga bunga kondi dahonlang. Kag iya ginhambalan ngaindi na siya magtubo sa gihapon.Kag ang higera nalaya. Ini ngahitabo dako ang iya kaangtanan.Ang mga kasimanwa ni Jesushalin sang una nagahandum sangMesias. Apang kulang ang ilapreparasyon kag pamalandongkag wala nila makila si Jesus.Katulad sila sang nalaya ngahigera. Isa man ini ka panawagansa aton paghandum kay Kristo sasemana santa.

3. Pagpaninlo sang Templo (Jn2:14-21) Katulad sang natabo salaya nga kahoy, ang pagpaninloni Jesus sa templo may dako ngakahulugan. Nakita naton ang iyadako nga kaakig sa pagpahanwanniya sang mga tawo sa gwa sangtemplo. Wala na singpagpangamuyo pulos na langbaklanay kag baligya-anay sangmga inughalad. Indi bala inipanawagan kon paano natonginagamit ang aton simbahan oaton lawas nga templo sangEspiritu Santo?

THE LORD’S RESURRECTIONTo many of us Christmas is the mostjoyous day of the year consideringthe many things associated to it.However, in the church Liturgicalcalendar the happiest if not t6hemost important day is today,Resurrection Sunday. For today wecelebrate our Lord’s rising from thedead which signifies His triumphover sin and death.A couple of days ago we celebratedHoly Friday. We remembered Hisdeath on the cross which was thesummary and the culmination of allthe suffering He had gone through, theway for Him had been littered withthe thorns of physical anguish andtorture, rejection, derision, betrayal,etc. everything did not end in thecross, Calvary was followed by Easter.The tress was the cause of the downfallof the first man and woman in thegarden of Eden. By eating the fruit ofthe tree of knowledge of good and evil,they chose the wrong tree. Theysuffered death as a result because oftheir sin of disobedience. By carryingthe cross and dying on it, in obedienceto the Father’s will, Jesus chose thetree of life. Three days later He rosefrom death to life.As today’s Gospel tells us, as the firstday of the week dawns, MaryMagdalene, Peter, and the disciplewhom Jesus loves are there to witnessthe resurrection of the Lord. Trueenough these people have not seen theLord rise from the tomb. But His bodywhich has been there for 36 to 40hours, in no longer there to be found.They find nothing but the emptinessof the tomb and His burial clothes.Surely His body can not be stolen asthere are guards posted there to makesure they body will be taken away andthere has been no earthquake toswallow it. All this is enough for thedisciple whom Jesus loves to professhe believes.The resurrection of our Lord is but thecornerstone of our Christian faith.Our faith rises or falls with Hisresurrection. Without it we would bea bunch of stupid idiots for believing.As St. Paul says, “And if Christ has notbeen raised, our preaching is void ofcontent. Your faith is empty too.” (Cor15: 14) His resurrection is the reasonfor our faith and for our hopes thatwe will rise wit6h Him in the end.This means that had Christ not beenraised from the dead, our faith wouldbe useless and there would be noreason for us to live a moral andrighteous living.

With His resurrection Christconquered the power of sin and deathmore than 2,000 years ago, giving usback our dignity as children of God.The door of heaven was opened for usto enter God’s kingdom. His victoryis also our victory.His resurrection reveals and promisesto us a new and glorious dimensionof life. There is life that awaits us afterdeath. His rising offers a heritage oflight and glory. Death no longerreigns supreme and no longer appearsdreadful as it is just the beginning ofa new and greater life. That is whySt. Paul has this to say: “Oh deathwhere is your victory? Oh deathwhere is your sting?” In one of hisletters St. Paul even makes no bonesof his desire to die so he can be withChrist. He does not shudder at thethought of dying for it means beingin a new and glorious life with Christ.In fact many early Christiansbecame martyrs because of the hopeof a new and greater life which Hisresurrection offers. They stoically andbravely embraced death when theirfaith was on the line. That in the earlytimes of the church there weremartyrs, people who died for the faith,people who chose to suffer andsurrender their lives because they didnot want to relinquish their faith, onlymeans that the risen Christ and thepromise that we will rise with Him areworth dying for.

Quite impressed by the unshakablefaith these Christian martyrsdisplayed in the face of death, thoseresponsible for their deathsconverted to Christianity. Indeed itwas on the blood of martyrs thatChristianity flourished.The resurrection of Jesus gives us theneeded hope to face life that wecherish – life with all its pain, trials,difficulties, etc. It encourages us togo on and not give up nor be dauntedin the face of all this, assuring us thatin the end there is glory that awaitsus. If we only follow the way or lifeof Christ which is one of sacrifice,suffering, and death, we will bebrought to our resurrection if not to anew and everlasting life.From the womb to the tomb the worldoffers many things to assure us to behappy. The assures us everlasting lifeand happiness and this He does fromour conception to resurrection.Moreover, because Christ is risen, Heis also alive. Our faith, then, has tobe vibrant and alive, manifesting itselfin action. That Christ is alive shouldbe mirrored in our lives.We have to be His witnesses,proclaiming the Good News that Heis alive as did Mary Magdalene toPeter and the disciple whom Jesusloves and like Peter did to the peopleof Jerusalem. By the life we live weproclaim that He is alive andworking in us. We have to be Hiswitnesses in whatever we do orwherever we may be.Furthermore we are people of theresurrection and so our life if not ourpresence in our family, work places,and community has to be one whichproclaims joy, hope and optimism.Resurrection people possess a positiveoutlook in life, always looking at thebright side of life and refusing to stayin the dark. To them failure are notthe end but lessons to learn for thefuture. All is not lost for them as longas there is life. They told hard, refusingto give up believing that in the endthey will achieve their resurrectionfrom their situation.The resurrection of Jesus challengesus to be the kind of person God wantus to be in whatever capacity we havein life. The promise of glory for thosewho take up his cross must inspireus to follow His way. Let us die toour old sinful, selfish, and corruptways that we may rise to a new lifein Christ.
