Nonprofit Management Specialist AmeriCorps Service Positions Service Term: This is a full-time, 6 month or 1-year position. Health benefits and housing are available. Organization Description: The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown are Catholic Nuns who respond together to meet the critical needs of God’s people in Youngstown and northeast Ohio and have since 1874. St. Angela Merici founded the Ursuline order in Italy in 1535. She was a woman of faith and vision who served the Church and sought to be an instrument of change in her world. Today we live Gospel values, desire to deepen our relationship with Christ, support one another in community, and strive to make a difference in the world. The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown minister in the areas of education, health care, social service, parish work and more, focusing on but not limited to poverty, immigrant and disadvantaged populations. The Ursuline Sisters sponsor several nonprofit programs. These include Beatitude House, HIV/AIDS Ministry, Young Adult Outreach, The Ursuline Center, Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten and Dorothy Day House. Position Description: The Nonprofit Management Specialist will apply her/his existing skills set to the job while gaining valuable on-the-job experience. This position comprises administration and direct service duties. The primary focus will be engaging with staff and clients at three vibrant, stable nonprofit sites. Work will include coordinating projects and various administration duties; position could include developing projects, strategic communications and development/finance duties. Service aspect will include tutoring, mentoring and a social component with women and children from diverse backgrounds and cultures, including immigrant families. You will be encouraged to apply your education, energy and vision to make a difference in our ministries and the lives of people served by them. Candidate Description: Candidate should hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and desire to devote either 6 months or 1 year of their life to service at Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown ministry sites in the Youngstown area. Job Start/End Date: September 2016-July 2017 for full-year position; Jan. 2017-July 2017 for half-year position. Position Compensation Package: Half-year participants receive twice-monthly stipends ($522.10 before taxes) totaling approximately $7,000 for 900 hours of service at nonprofit sites through The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown. At the end of the half-year service term, participants receive a $2,865 AmeriCorps Education Award toward future education or to pay off student loans. Full-year participants receive a twice-monthly stipend that totals $12,100 a year for 1,700 hours of service at nonprofit sites through The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown. At the end of the full-year service term, participant will receive a $5,600 AmeriCorps Education Award toward future education or to pay off student loans. Loan forebearance with interest accruel. Health benefits and housing are available to participant. Travel expenses to attend mandatory AmeriCorps meetings will be funded. Additionally, candidate will be welcomed to various Ursuline Sisters’ events and offered opportunities for sharing in prayer and community life of the Ursuline Sisters.
