President ’s report A.K.A.

Scott T.

Wow! October already! Who can believe it? After a bitter winter and a somewhat slow start to the season, it turned out to be one of the better, and busiest summer's in recent memory. The shows were numerous and well attended. A huge milestone in Mustang culture was reached, and was celebrated numerous times throughout the year. We anticipated a new model to arrive to coincide with the anniversary, and while it is not quite on the ground yet, the pictures and reviews are exceptional. The weather was fantastic with a few minor exceptions, (Wild Wednesday and Thursday cruise nights in particular!) and I would not be surprised if the average temperature was above normal. I cannot recall so many 27,28 degree days, although the elusive 30's were few and far between. The IMM was success-ful, and again AMAC was able to secure the Club Participation trophy. I believe that is 4 years in a row!

Incredible! (Unless you have to store the trophy at your house, right Bill? Oh, and thanks Mark!). So now Radium and High River are done, our last cruise has been cruised, the trees are changing colours, and no matter how tough of a Calgarian you are, you need a jacket in the morning and evening. The Hitmen are on the ice, and the Flames are in training camp, and you wish you had bought the sunny side of MacMahon for your Stampeders tickets! Seems to me like the summer is over. Just enough time to get a few more miles in before the snow flies, and I mean the kind that doesn't melt away in the morning either. Although living in the Great White North offers all kinds of cool snow activities, it is a sad day indeed when we have to hang up the clubs, drain the boat, and park our beloved Steeds. But alas my fellow pony addicts, all is not lost or over. This is the time of year that the other parts of our AMAC get to work. First we start with the meetings, where after a

summer of fun we get down to work setting the framework for next season. (and drink beer). This includes World Of Wheels, one of our most elaborate club activities. In fact you will have noticed it has already started if you have checked your inbox recently. This year promises to be one of the most challenging and rewarding builds yet! We have taken the first place title the last 2 years, and with enough volunteers and teamwork, we are sure to pull it off again! Also, planning for our IMM in 2016, and our Spring Fling will be ongoing, as well as numerous other topics. For our winter meetings, we often try to have a guest speaker in attendance, offering information and/or services on almost any topic automotive! So, even though the car is parked, snow is on the ground, it doesn't mean you have to be! In the meantime, enjoy our typical beautiful fall weather, get those last few drives in, and we'll see you all soon!

AMAC events for 2014 will be partly in support of the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter. Fund raising for this wonderful agency will now be a part of each of our events. This means when you participate in a club event part of your admission or registration costs will go to the Shelter. One more great reason to participate in AMAC activities.

The Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter is a nonprofit agency that provides emergency shelter for women and children escaping domestic

violence. We also offer support and prevention programs For more information see their website at:

AMAC is proud to help raise funds for two great charities:

After careful planning of the route to Bellevue, WA, I headed off on another cruise to the largest annual (34th) gathering of Mustangs, held each year in July. The trip was uneventful except just before hitting the US Border crossing at Kingsgate, I happened to run over the remnants of a poor skunk. I had no choice. Well, needless to say the light turned green, meaning it was my turn to chat with US Border Services. The Agent was great and I answered all of his questions. He did seem to be in a quandary and in a bit of displeasure. He politely asked if I’d run over a

skunk – more an exclamation: “Can you smell that!” Too bad that I didn’t (at first). A/C helps and of course the hot air from the tires wafted straight up the Agent’s nose. The discussion was cut short…I could hear him say “have a nice day” as I continued on to Bonner’s Ferry. (I somehow felt sorry for the guy.)

The show was well organized with about 500 Mustangs of all vintages and colours. The Judged Show saw about 120 of the finest on display. The pony trail ride on Saturday was well attended with

about 120-130 cars and we ended up at the LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, WA. If you get down that way, the museum is great and well worth the admission. There were world class works of automotive art in every corner. The People’s Choice Show on Sunday was well turned out even though it rained until about noon. It always a good thing to carry extra wiping towels! I entered my ride in the 2010-2014 V6 Coupe Class and brought home a 2nd place award. I nicely etched stainless steel frame to enjoy.
