UWM Swimming & Diving Alumni Newsletter

July ~ August ~ September 2003 Hello all! We hope you had a fun, safe summer. This will be a relatively short letter. Just want to keep you posted with what is happening or will be happening shortly. First off, congratulations to Steve Kreinz on the birth of his daughter, Ella Joy, on July 16th. Ella joins her four brothers at home. We also wanted to let you know that Bryan Bell is engaged. He and his fiancée, Ashley, will be married in June of 2004. On a swimming note, Matt Gardner was recently named the head swimming coach at Webster University in St. Louis, MO. Finally, we just received an email from Liza Ibarra…she and her husband have been married for six years and are both Sergeants with the Milwaukee Police Department. They have a 21-month-old girl, Isabel, and a 7-month-old boy, Ben. Our scoreboard has been delivered! We are still working on raising our part of the funding for it, but we hope to have it up and running by our first home meet on October 24th against Northwestern. If you haven’t sent in your pledge, please do so. We have raised about $12,000 of the $35,000 that we need to pay for the board! To those of you that have sent money in, thank you so much! Speaking of home meets, we only have a few this year. In addition to the 5pm start on Friday, October 24th, our only other non-invitational meet will be Saturday, November 8th @ 12pm vs. UIC and Evansville (diving at Schroeder YMCA). Since we are not having an alumni meet this year, we would like to do an alumni gathering at/after this meet. Paul Moniak brings his UIC team to Milwaukee, so you’ll be able to see him during the meet as well. Afterwards, we’ll head to Rock Bottom for dinner and drinks (6pm?). The Bill Ritter Invitational wraps up our home meets. Start times are Friday, January 23rd @ 4:30pm and Saturday, January 24th @ 9:30am and 3:30pm. Diving will be at Schroeder on Friday, January 23rd @ 11am. On the back of this letter is a list of alumni for whom we do not have current addresses. If you are in contact with any of these people, please let us know. We look forward to seeing many of you at the home meet on November 8th and/or at Rock Bottom afterwards!
