Health Information Management (BS)

• Degree changes– Due to projected changes in the certification requirements of the Council on Certification of the

American Health Information Management Association, this bachelor’s program will transition to a master's degree program. The last semester for matriculation of part-time students into the bachelor's program is Fall 2010. The last semester for matriculation of full-time students into the bachelor's program is Fall 2011. Students should plan to complete this bachelor of science in health information management by May 2015.

• Important Notes– ECU does NOT offer a progression program for AAS students. Professional phase of this program can be

completed on-line.– Special application required. Can only apply ONCE per year: FEB1. All HIM prerequisites must be

completed by Summer Session I to begin program in the FALL.– Students must make a “C” or better in BIOL 2130/31 (or BIOL 2140/41 and 2150/51) MATH 1065,

Statistics, MIS 2223, HIMA 3000, and HSMA 2000– Minimum required GPA is 2.5 but higher grades are recommended due to the competitiveness of the

program.

Health Services Management (BS)

• Important Notes– Students with an AAS degree in an Allied Health field must still meet regular ECU admission

requirements, and still must complete the 42 hours of general education. Completion of an AAS does not guarantee that a student will graduate in 2 years after transferring.

– Special application required. Can only apply ONCE per year: FEB1. All HSM prerequisites must be completed by Summer Session I to begin program in the FALL.

– Students must make a “C” or better in BIOL 2130/31 (or BIOL 2140/41 and 2150/51) MATH 1065, Statistics, MIS 2223, HIMA 3000, and HSMA 2000

– In order to be eligible for the Allied Health Management concentration, students must have an AAS degree in an Allied Health field, and be licensed and working in that field. They must submit a copy of their license to us to be eligible.

Rehabilitation Services (BS)

• Important Notes– Special application required. Applications are due by October 15 for Spring and March 15 for

Fall. Must be close to completing all 42 hours of Foundations Curriculum courses prior to being admitted.

– Students must have a minimum ECU GPA of 2.5 established before applying to the program. Higher grades are recommended due to the competitiveness of the program.

These are all GRADUATE degrees. Students can choose any undergraduate major they wish as long as they have the appropriate pre-requisites for their intended graduate program.

• Students can major in anything and apply to dental school as long as they have the appropriate courses. Students are encouraged to choose a major based on their interests and in which they can excel.
