In our school there are some children with additional learning and support needs. Every year our teachers work with parents and carers to create a plan of teaching and support strategies to make sure that each child can make progress towards their own goals How does the school know if my child needs their own learning plan ? Our Learning Support Team collects and analyses lots of data about children to see if they need additional support. Here are a few of the ways this is done: * knowledge of the student from their parents and carers * assessment of data specific to the individual student, such as reading and numeracy, language, communication, social/emotional, behaviour, health care, attendance, and their personal and cultural context * documentation from medical practitioners, other medical specialists, other health or allied health professionals and therapists, such as a paediatrician, school counsellor or psychologist, speech pathologist, occupational therapist and audiologist. What happens aer the plan has been written ? Our teachers and learning support team will keep checking in on the success of the plan and make any changes necessary. We will also invite you to come in and chat about the progress of your child, but like always you can request a meeting if you would like to discuss the plan or share new information about your child. Do parents get a copy of the plan? Always. You can then share it with whoever else may be supporting your child. Contact Mr Fury or Ms Sheldrick for more information about our Learning Support Team. From the classroom

The big bad wolf is hiding in the bush.

The evil and cruel wolf is spying on his prey.

The wolf has green overalls on.

The big bad wolf has a bad grin.

The wolf is a horrible and mean animal.

The big bad wolf is a hunting machine.

The big mean wolf is sarcastic.

The big wolf is sniffing the air for pigs.

The wolf is being a half spy.

The big bad wolf is rude.

The wolf is hiding and spying.

The rude and cruel wolf is spying on the three little pigs lazing around in their house.

1. Who lives in your house? My husband, Brett, my two daughters, Bella and Rosie and our dog Buddy.

2. Tell us something we wouldn’t know about you. I have lived in the USA and Scotland. My dad is American and we moved there when I was a baby.

3. Where in the world would you like to travel? Vietnam and Cambodia.

4. What does your perfect breakfast look like? Anything I don’t have to cook or clean up!

5. What’s the best concert you’ve been to and why was it so good? Live Aid in London. There were so many amazing performers such as Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Elton John, Robbie Williams and U2. It went on for 12 hours. I won tickets to the concert not long after moving to the UK.

6. Who would you most like to sit next to on a 10-hour flight and why? No-one! I have just been on a 15-hour flight with my husband and two children and it was awful!

Albury Zone Swimming Carnival Good luck to the 22 students who are representing our school in the Zone Swimming Carnival at Albury Swim Centre on Tuesday. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the results.

Hockey clinic Hockey Albury-Wodonga is running coaching sessions on Friday from 9.30-11am for all children in Years 3-6. Equipment will be provided.

NRL Respect Assembly Staff from the NRL will be in school next Monday (March 2) to run a brand new INSPIRE RESPECT assembly. They will provide students with tools and tips they can use every day to display respectful behaviours not just on the sporting field but in the classroom and everyday life. The assembly will start at 10.20am and last around 40 minutes.

Tell Them From Me From the start of next month, students in Years 4-6 will be taking part in the ‘Tell Them From Me’ survey. The survey, which is statewide, will provide feedback to help us improve how we do things at school. It focuses on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices.

The survey is confidential. It’s conducted online, during school hours, and shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to complete. If you don’t want your child to take part, collect a form from the office and return it to school by next Friday (March 6).

Catching up with your teacher If you have any concerns about your child or simply want to see how they’re settling in and wish to see their teacher, please ring the office and make an appointment. Events are planned for the end of term for parents and carers to visit classrooms.
