    International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

    o Main international organisation, based in Canada.

    o Wrote and published the Convention of InternationalCivil Aviation (CICA) (including Annex 13).

    Under the CICA many other organisations are included,according to the countries that have ratified and signedthe CICA.

    In the UK we have the Air Accident Investigation Branch(AAIB). This is the largest British organisation in the civilaviation sector, for the investigation of air accidents.

    To propose improvement methods such as;

    Better training for flight staff and aircraft mechanics

    New procedures for flights and operations

    The main reason for conducting an air accidentinvestigation is to prevent air accidents fromhappening in the future.

    Another important reason is in order to proposesafety recommendations and thereby improveaviation safety.
