Fall 2010Prayer for Salvation

For those of you who don’t know Jesus, would you like to know Him? All you need to do is pray the prayer below with a sincere and trusting heart, and you will be born again.

Dear God in Heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus to receive salvation and eternal life. I believe that Jesus is Your Son. I believe that He died on the cross for my sins and that you raised Him from the dead. I receive Jesus now into my heart and make Him the Lord of my life. Jesus, come into my heart. I welcome you as my Lord and Savior.

Father, I believe Your Word says that I am now saved. I confess with my mouth that I am saved and born again. I am now a child of God.

I recently heard a story from a veteran who said that during World War II if an unidentified soldier appeared suddenly in the dark and could not state his mission, he was automatically shot without question! Wow! Can you imagine if that were the case of every one of us? I would imagine if we were faced with a life or death need to know our mission, we would be forced to discover it. Mission is defined as “a specific task that a person or group of persons is sent to perform; a responsibility, a calling”.

The most powerful and influential leader of all time communicated His mission in one sentence: “I came that they might have life, and have it more abundantly.” - JesusEvery activity He engaged in revolved around that mission. Whether it was teaching by the sea, playing with children, or turning water into wine, He stayed true to His mission. In the story of those persecuting the woman caught in adultery, He addressed them with words of His mission being “not to condemn but to give life”.

A few years ago, I met with my dad to discuss the mission of Jerry Savelle Ministries. I asked him to tell me in one word what he felt compelled to do before going to heaven. Without hesitation, he answered, “Disciple!”

Dad has always had a strong desire to not only lead people to Christ, but to disciple them in how to LIVE by faith, how to know God intimately and how to fulfill their mission here on earth. He learned back in 1969 that it was only through a consistent relationship with God and time in the Word that his life would radically change. This ‘life change’ would not be the result of one encounter at the altar. So, his question was, “What next?” “How do I understand the Bible?” “How do I know what God wants me to do?”

Those questions are what led his desire to teach others what God has taught him. How to live by faith, how to apply the Bible to your daily life, how to confidently pursue God’s plan for your life. That’s what the Jerry Savelle Bible School is all about!

“If a man for whatever reason has the opportunity to lead an extraordinary life, he has no right to keep it to himself.” - Jacques-Yves Cousteau

I love that quote because when my dad surrendered his life to the Lord in 1969, he said, “Lord, I’m a failure. I’m a nobody.” And He clearly heard the Lord say, “Don’t worry about it, son. I am a master at making champions out of nobodies!”

Currently, we are discipling champions in 23 nations around the world from Argentina to Zambia. College students, stay-at-home mom’s, African pastors, church leaders and full time employees are discovering their God-given mission no matter their age, their geographical location, background or past experiences.

If you are at that place my dad was at years ago, asking the question, “What next, Lord? What is my mission?” the Jerry Savelle Bible School will teach you to hear from God, understand His word and take the steps necessary to walk out your purpose.

“I truly have grown in my faith…I owe it to your teachings and school.” - B.T.

THErE WAS A TIME WHEN THE BouNDArIES IN MY LIFE SquEEZED So TIGHT THAT THEY FELT LIkE A NooSE ArouND MY NECk. I was failing at everything. My business was failing. My marriage was failing. My finances were failing. I was so tired of failure that I couldn’t take it any more. I knew that if I didn’t get the limitations out of my life, I would never succeed.

I was sick like the world. I was broke like the world. I was depressed like the world. My life was ordinary and I had no hope of anything better because I was confined to the world’s way of thinking. I grew weary of just existing. I grew tired of

religion and developed a hunger for God. When my desperation for change reached its peak, I closed

my paint and body shop and went into in a little spare bedroom with the Bible. For the next three months I spent hours each day reading and studying the Word of God. I treated my time learning the Word like it was a full time job. The Word was that vital to me. I knew it was the difference between success and failure in my life. During that time, I realized that God wasn’t the one limiting me. The real shocker came when I discovered that the primary culprit in my own life was me. The longer I delved into the Word of God, the more I realized that not only had the Lord not put restrictions and limitations on

LIFE

me, He’d gone to the cross to remove the very ones I was tolerating. I discovered that my failure was a product of how I’d been raised and the habits I’d formed since. My own words, thoughts and behavior patterns were keeping me from being a winner.

Now, you’ve got to understand that at this point nothing had changed in the natural. After I finished praying and studying the Word, I had the same debts. My life was still a dismal downward spiral of failure. But everything was changing on the inside of me. I was changing from the inside out. My thoughts were being renewed. My heart was being renewed. on the inside, everything that made me Jerry Savelle was changing because I was being renewed by the Word of God.

You have to change on the inside before anything will ever change on the outside. But once you begin to change on the inside, it won’t be long before you’ll be able to see changes on the outside. The more the Word grew on the inside of me, the more perfected the image of winning and becoming an overcomer grew and the more I saw outward manifestations of that inward change.

FIrE IN MY EYESAt the end of those three months, I came out of that

bedroom a new man. I had the fire of God in my eyes, the Word of God in my heart and the power of God in my hands. The favor of God manifested in my life every day. God’s blessings followed me wherever I went.

When I dove into the depths of the Word of God, I discovered that I wasn’t defined by this world. That’s when I started breaking loose from the world’s system. Now, it didn’t happen in a week. It didn’t happen in a month. But radical changes were occurring in my life. I’ll be honest, people thought I was crazy. However, it didn’t take long before those same people were calling me when they needed help.

I still remember the way it felt when the boundaries in my life tightened into a noose. However, I have a more vivid memory of the day Carolyn and I walked into a car dealership and paid cash for a new car. Another hall-of-fame memory was the day we finally lived in a debt-free house. We’d broken through the boundary of lack in our lives! The day we paid cash for a car for someone else is a day that’s forever freeze-framed in my memory. The world can’t even fathom doing these things, but without boundaries, they should be everyday occurrences for believers.

I broke through the fences Satan had erected in my life. I broke through the boundaries the world called normal and learned to live an extraordinary life. As wonderful as that is, let me give you the sobering news. I wasn’t the only one who heard the messages that drove me to the Word. Hundreds of other people heard the same Word, but they didn’t apply it. Everyone who heard that Word could have dove into the Bible for themselves and come out changed. They heard the

Word but they didn’t act on it and apply it. Those people had the same opportunity that I had, but they chose to go on living within the world’s boundaries.

knowing these principles is crucial in breaking through the boundaries in your life. But if you don’t apply them, nothing will change. When you apply them, you’ll break free from the boundaries of poverty, sickness and every form of defeat and failure. The Word of God will separate you into a higher form of reality than the world knows.

THE FIrST STEPYou might be asking, “okay, Brother Jerry, how do I get rid

of these limitations and break those boundaries? I’ve heard those things all my life. I just thought that’s the way it was.” The answer is the Word of God. The Word is the only thing that can break the boundaries and limits in your life.

The most important first step in breaking through your boundaries is letting the Word of God change you from the inside out. You must discover who you are in the Word of God, what you can do through the Word of God, and for you to really understand that you have a covenant with Almighty God. once you do that, your life will forever be changed—just like mine was. I want you to know that something is going to happen on the inside of you. And let me tell you, it’s the beginning of the end for the boundaries and limits that have held you captive.

When Jesus was about to go to the cross, He didn’t want to leave until He knew His disciples understood the importance of the Word. In John, chapter 17, He said, “I have given them thy word,” (v. 14). In the mind of Jesus the most important thing that He could leave with His followers was the Word of God.

In the world today it’s easy to take the Word for granted. We have such easy access to it. You can buy a Bible at just about any bookstore. You can download it as an app on your Iphone. You can upload one to your computer. We have the Bible on CDs. You can buy sermons online. You have access to the Word like never before. But do you apply it to your life?

The Word was so important to Jesus that before He finished His mission, He was able to say to His Father, “If there is one thing I have done, I have given them Your word.”

Why was it so important that Jesus let His Father know that He had given the disciples His word? Because the Word,

and the power of the Word, is what separates you from the world. “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” Jesus’ followers were no more of this world than He was. Are you a follower of Jesus today? If so, He was talking about you just as much as He was talking about His original followers.

I’m in the world, but I’m not of it, and neither are you. That’s what makes the difference. If you’re still of it, then you’ve got problems.

If you’re still trying to hang onto some of your past or things that are worldly, you won’t be victorious. Everyone faces trials, but you shouldn’t react like normal people do.

You’re not normal. You’re not supposed to react like everyone else. You shouldn’t think like them. You shouldn’t talk like them. You shouldn’t act like them. You shouldn’t live like them.

Your first thought in a trial should be what does the Word say about this—not what does the world say. You’re not restricted or confined by the same things they are because you are not ordinary like the world.

SET APArTJohn 17:17 says, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy

word is truth.”The word sanctify simply means to set apart or to separate.

Page 7: Aif fall 2010

This is how we should function in the world today—set apart. But the key to living life set apart from the world is to know the Word. The reason so many Christians are failing today is because they don’t truly know the Word. Don’t get me wrong, it may be in their head, but it’s not in their heart. Why? Because they haven’t put a strong enough emphasis on the importance of God’s Word. reading your Bible once a week is not enough. You’ll never be extraordinary until you place as much importance on the Word as you do your next meal. Hunger after the Word, and it will change you. Make it a priority over your favorite television show and see what God will do for you. knowing the Word is the only way to be the overcomer that God has called you to be.

God separates you from what’s going on in this world through the Word. If you don’t know the Word, you’ll be in the same boat as the rest of the world. When the flu comes around, you’ll get it. When they are laying off people at your job, you will start packing. But that isn’t how God intended for you to live.

THE rEAL TruTH The last part of John 17:17 says, “…thy word is truth.” The

word truth is defined as the highest form of reality that exists. This means that there are other forms of reality, but God’s Word is the highest form of reality.

The world is just reporting what they see happening out there. It’s factual. It’s real, but it’s not the highest form of reality. The highest form of reality is the Word of God. God’s Word doesn’t make any sense to the natural, carnal mind. But since it is the highest form of reality that exists, and every other word is a lower form of reality, then the lower form must bow to the higher form. The lower form of reality has to bow to the Word every time.

I pray that this truth and the importance of the Word becomes a revelation to you. When it does, nothing can stop you from being extraordinary. It won’t matter what’s going on in the world because you will be able to maintain your joy, your focus, and your faith. You’ll know that God is going to come through for you—no matter what the world, or your circumstances say. When this becomes a revelation to you, it will forever change you. You’ll be confident because you’ll know that God will see you through because it’s His word that separates you from all the other junk that’s going on out there.

ALL THE WroNG PLACESYour problems may be so big that you think, “Maybe the

government can help me. They owe me. I deserve a little bit

of help.” Let me tell you, if you’re looking to the government for answers or to pay your bills, you’re in trouble. They don’t have the answers. The Word does. Get in the Word for yourself. You can’t be lazy and extraordinary at the same time. The answer to your situation is in the Word, find out what it says and dare to believe it. If you’re willing to do that then you will soon discover that God will back it every time.

You don’t just hope that you can go from ordinary to extraordinary. You have to live it on purpose. This is deliberate. God set it up that way. He put the ball in your court. God sees you blessed, highly favored, and living life better than you ever imagined. That is His plan for you. Do you see it that way? Are you committed to living that life? If so, then the Word has to be final authority in your life.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 15:30, “Good news nourishes the bones,” (Amplified). The Word will build you up, maintain you, and support you when everything else fails. When I walk away from my time in the Word, I feel good. I’m encouraged. I feel like I could take on the world. I have an

assurance that God is about to do something good. When I walk away from the Word, I know I can live the extraordinary life. And God is no respecter of persons. If I can do this, so can you. remove the limitations in your mind and replace them with a promise in the Word.

BoTToM LINEIf you want to take the limits off of your life, you’re going

to have to do more than is required, go the extra mile, and exceed what others might be willing to do. That’s how you experience the extraordinary life. What’s the principle here? If you want to live this kind of life, you’ve got to be willing to do what ordinary people are not willing to do. What do I mean by that? You have to do more than is required: You might be thinking, “How much time do I have to spend in the Word every day? How much time do I need to pray? How much do I need to sow?” Let me answer those questions with one of my own.

Do you want a mediocre life or do you want the extraordinary?

The extraordinary person doesn’t look for just what is required. They’re willing to do more than is required. They’re willing to go the extra mile. They’re willing to exceed what others are willing to do. As a result, they have put into motion the law of cause and effect. Their action is about to produce for them an equal reaction. If you become extraordinary in the way you approach the Word, your walk with God, and your Christianity, then you will be rewarded with the extraordinary instead of the ordinary. - AIF

I recently received a report revealing that my #1 viewed podcast series is “Breaking Soul Ties”. Based on the emails I receive and letters I read, many people are locked in relationships that they know they shouldn’t be in . . . but don’t know how to get out. I dedicated an entire chapter on this subject in my new book, Make Your Dreams Bigger than Your Memories, because it is a big reason why many people are not letting go of their past. Some people can never fully move on or may find themselves “stuck” because they have not severed relationships with particular people that God wants them to sever.

erhaps you still dream about or long for someone that you were never able to release from your spirit, even though it’s been years. Perhaps you are currently in an unhealthy relationship you know

you should get out of. or you try to leave the situation but always end up returning to it. Maybe you have been in an intimate relationship with someone and although you know it’s wrong and you want to please God, you simply cannot resist the desire to stay involved with them. Perhaps you are tormented with thoughts about someone in your mind. You have soul ties.

Your soul is made up of your mind, your will and your emotions; it is your inner life. A soul tie is an emotional connection or a bond with another that unites you. Soul ties are not necessarily bad. After all, God created them. They can be good if it’s something that God wants for your life. As a matter of fact, in Matthew 18:19, Jesus says, “If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them”. When two people come together in a good soul tie, the power of God intensifies.

In 1 Samuel 18:1, we read that “the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David” (NkJV). Jonathan’s and David’s souls were tied together in a way that God blessed. Likewise, marriage represents a good soul tie between a husband and wife, because their souls are joined together as one flesh (see Mark 10:8).

As I headed out for my morning walk today, I saw my big dog, Chester Savoy Foy, tied to the gate. We are having some work done in our backyard and we didn’t want Chester to get loose, so we had to tie him up. I visually saw him tied to the gate. He wasn’t going anywhere. I was sure he wanted to. He desired to. He wished he could. But the fact is, that chain is pretty secure and it kept him bound.

Think about your own life. What’s keeping you bound? What are you tied to in your soul that you can’t get free from? Who are you still emotionally connected to because of wrong soul ties? You want to break free. You desire to. You wish you could, but you feel chained. These chains must be broken.

How are soul ties formed?

1. Close relationships.

When you spend a lot of time with someone, you are forming a bond. Through whatever you do together – eating, traveling, working, talking – the connection strengthens. You have soul ties with your coworkers, your family members, your children, your classmates. Jonathan and David are a perfect example of a God-designed soul tie. In this type of kinship, God’s power increases. The same is true for a wrong soul tie. In that instance, it opens an opportunity for Satan to work on your behalf, and his evil power is intensified.

2. vows, commitments, promises.

Soul ties can be formed by the words of your mouth. Words have such power over your life! Think of what it really means when you say statements such as: “I will never stop loving you.” “You will always be the only one I love.” “I will never get you out of my heart.” “You’re the only one I will ever give my love to.” “Nobody will ever take your place in my life.” Can you just imagine how much power these words yield?

The Bible says that we can be “snared” by the words of our mouth: “You are snared by the words of your mouth; you are taken by the words of your mouth” (Proverbs 6:2 NkJV). A snare means a trap, a hook or a plan. Your very own words could be keeping you trapped to a bad soul tie, which explains why you feel like something is pulling on you, preventing you from fully going forward.

3. Sexual relationships.

Soul ties are formed any time and every time there is intimacy in a relationship. You may have ended a physically intimate relationship months ago, but you still feel a pull toward that person. Why? Because of soul ties.

Soul ties prevent us from moving on to new relationships, even the ones God may be leading us into. This can even happen in situations of divorce. The divorce is over, a new marriage is pursued, but one spouse keeps being drawn back to his or her ex-husband or ex-wife. Their soul is still tied to the former spouse.

James 1:8 says, “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” A double-minded person is one with a divided soul. Do you feel unstable at times? Do you want to move on with your life but are struck in random moments of missing your ex-boyfriend? This is being double

-minded and not something God wants you to experience. He wants you free from every sin of your past – even the ones you willfully gave into over and over but still think about.

There are certain things you can do to help you through this trying and uncomfortable process of breaking free from a relationship you feel God wants you to get free of:

A. decide to please God more than anyone.

You have one life to live., and it matters to God. one day, you will stand before God and give an account of your life and what you were called to do during your time here on earth. You cannot live your life displeasing God in order to please someone else. All that will do is eventually bring you a life of deep regret.

You have to come to the place in your life where pleasing God is the most important thing to you. If He is prompting you to end a relationship that you’re tied to, then you need to end it. Allowing someone to have as much influence as God should have in your life opens the door for Satan to come into your life. He will make it so much harder for you to give up this soul tie. The right time to cut the strings is now. Today. Even this very minute.

B. Build yourself up in the Word.

You must have daily doses of God’s Word in order to develop the strength to sever an ungodly soul tie. You cannot do this on your own. Filling yourself with God’s Word can help you make the right decisions. It must be a part of your strategic plan to be free of your past.

We all have a past. We’ve all made mistakes and done things we wish we hadn’t done. We all wish we could just push a “delete” button on some of the choices we made yesterday and some of the things we’ve experienced years ago. What’s more, our past has a way of shaping who we are today. It’s amazing how one single dramatic experience of rejection in childhood can last through adulthood and for-ever alter our self-image or how one bad decision in college can overshadow the dreams of the future, even God-given dreams. The author knows that past hurts (whether brought on by someone else or our choice to sin) can undermine us. Raised a church kid, she knew all about sin, but made the mistakes anyway. She learned firsthand that it’s not until we truly get a revelation of who we are in Christ and apply it to our lives, that our past can be erased and our dreams become real again. Terri Savelle Foy shows how we can let go of our past, change our self image and confidently move into a future with hope.

The Bible is your greatest weapon against Satan. He does not want you to break your soul ties. He is desperately working to keep you locked into this situation. The devil will lie to you and convince you that you cannot live without him/her. He will remind you day and night of all the good times, the fun times, the laughter, and torment you into thinking you cannot live without this person. He is a liar.

God’s Word, the Truth, will override Satan’s lies. Just like anything else, you won’t see results overnight. You have to make studying the Word a habit. In my new book, I share simple steps to developing habits of spending time in the Word. You decide your habits, your habits will decide your future.

C. Wean yourself from that person.

You literally have to wean yourself from that person to whom you have ungodly soul ties. To wean means to deprive. You have to deprive yourself of this wrong soul tie until you no longer miss him or her. And listen to this: there will come a day when you will no longer miss that person.

Psalm 131:2 says, “Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul like a weaned child with his mother. Like a weaned child is my soul within me ceased from fretting.” I remember when I was trying to wean my daughter off of the pacifier. Every night, it had become a part of our nightly routine to give her a pacifier as I laid her in her crib for the night. An hour or two later, I would remove the pacifier, and her little mouth would still be moving as if the pacifier were still there! It was so cute!

However, when it was time to wean her from it, it was torture. It was unbearable for her and she screamed at the top of her lungs for that “thing” she was used to getting. It was unbearable for me as I could not do anything except let her cry. oh, it broke my heart. I felt like a bad mom! Finally, what felt like an eternity of torturing my baby ended. She cried herself to sleep.

The next night, it didn’t get any easier! It was like starting over again. The same thing happened night after night. one night, however, the crying seemed to fade. It wasn’t as loud or as long as the previous nights. Eventually, of course, the crying completely stopped. The hours of crying turned into nights of silence. My baby, who is now 13, hasn’t missed her pacifier since!

When you first deny yourself of your wrong soul tie, rest assured that your spirit will throw a fit. Your emotions will scream and fight for the right to stay in bondage. But the more you deny yourself the thing that you are screaming for, the less you begin to desire it. Your flesh will eventually stop throwing temper tantrums and will start being subsided by the Spirit of God.

There are many ways to wean yourself off of an ungodly soul tie. The most obvious and important action to take is to cut all communication. Don’t call the person. Don’t answer their phone calls. Don’t hang out in places where you know they’ll be. Don’t be alone with them. Don’t email them. Delete their emails. You may have to take drastic measures to be free, but I promise you, it’s worth it. Doing this is being obedient to God and you will never regret submitting to your Heavenly Father. God always blesses obedience. remember this: partial obedience is still disobedience. Disobedience opens the door for a curse to come on your life. Fully obey what you know God is telling you to do.

When you compromise, agony and anxiety become your companions. When you obey God, peace and joy become a part of your life. You can never have total peace when you’re in disobedience to God. The only way to obtain peace is to submit to Him and do whatever He wants you to do. Your feelings will lie to you. You have to shut them up and do what you know you’re supposed to do. As I mentioned earlier, I dedicated an entire chapter on this subject which includes more strategic steps to breaking free. In a very practical way, I show you how to remove reminders of your past from your house and how to break the power of those words that have been spoken.

My prayer is that you will do what you know in your heart God is telling you to do. Lean on Him like never before. When the soul ties are painful, rest assured, your pain won’t last forever. Joy comes in the morning. And when something ends, God always has a new beginning. -AIF

TanzaniaMissions - November Trip

Every day in Tanzania hundreds of children’s deaths could be

prevented through proper nourishment and hygiene. This truth

doesn’t just move our hearts, it also moves our hands and feet

to do something about it. Because of your continued support,

we have partnered with three local orphanage ministries by

providing three meals a day for abandoned children in six

different orphanages.

OrphanagE SuppOrT:

By putting education together with the gospel, we know that

the lives of these children will truly be impacted and changed.

Without the school supplies in these backpacks the children

would be turned away and not allowed to attend class. This

outreach enables children to receive an education and bring

hope to their entire family. In addition, this past november,

we also provided a special needs school with curriculum and

teaching aids designed for their special needs.

SchOOl SupplIES:

Here is a look at what your gifts of support will be accomplishing for the Kingdom of God during out mission trip to Tanzania this November.

In addition to the humanitarian efforts

of distributing food, clothing, school

supplies, orphanage support and many

other outreaches, live open-air crusades

are conducted annually where as many

as 7,000 lives have run to the altar to

meet Jesus in one week.

We know in order to have lasting change and

affect an entire nation; local pastors must be

trained and given the tools needed to reach

their country. Currently, we are training 230

national Pastors through the Jerry Savelle

Bible School translated into their native

language of Kiswahili.

These pastors have repeatedly

testified to us that they have never

before heard this kind of Bible

teaching, and that the courses

have drastically changed not only

their lives, but the lives of their

congregations.

Because of your faithful support, thousands of children and

families will be able to wake up each day knowing that they will

not go hungry. In some of the most drought stricken areas, we

will provide food for over 40,000 people. Each outreach will

provide enough food for two months until the rains arrive.

FOOd dISTrIBuTIOn:

at each humanitarian outreach, we will also minister to their spirit.

In 2009 we documented over 1,350 decisions for christ and gave

away over 5,000 Jerry Savelle books translated into Kiswahili, You’re

Somebody Special To god. Each book that is given away will be passed

around within a village and be read by ten, twenty, even fifty people.

PartnershipPartners, because of your financial support to Jerry Savelle Ministries, you are touching people around the world through

television, church meetings, conferences, and faith-building resources. You are also making a difference in the lives of real

people struggling in Africa. Thank you for being a part of sharing His love, compassion, and truth to those in need.

I would like to personally invite you to become a partner with this ministry. A partner in our ministry is one who sows faithfully and continuously, helping us achieve the vision and goals that God has given us. My mandate for over 40 years has been to teach people how to be winners in life. God wants you to win in every area of your life. And, with God’s Word, you can do just that. You can then have a greater influence on the people you associate with and work with.

The Apostle Paul said in Galatians that you are to communicate with those who instruct you. That simply means that if this ministry has brought instruction into your life, if this ministry has helped you along the way in your spiritual growth, if it has blessed your life in some way, then Paul says to communicate with it. The word “communicate” here in the literal Greek is a little deeper than saying “I love your ministry.” It literally means “to give” and “to partner with.”

I would be honored to have you as my partner. One of the greatest compliments I ever receive is when someone comes up and says, “Jerry, I’m your partner.” That is such a blessing to me. When you partner with me, it means you believe in the call of God on my life.

I personally invite you to partner with this ministry. There is no way we can fulfill all that God has planned for us without partners. The vision God has given us is simply too big. It will take all of us together to accomplish this God-honoring vision.

When you become a partner, I want to sow right back into your life. With your first partner gift, I will send you my partner packet which includes two of my most motivating messages. I believe that as you partner with our ministry, you are going to experience the same grace and favor that is on this ministry. I receive testimonies of it everyday.

I want to close by saying thank you to all of our partners and friends of JSMI. Because of you, we are able to fulfill the call of God on our lives and reach the world for Jesus Christ!

In Him,

Jerry Savelle

Some of us are routine-kind of people. We enjoy doing the same routine at the same time each day. If something changes in the routine, that wasn’t on the sched-ule, it throws everything off . We don’t like change. We don’t like spontaneity. We don’t like anything to interrupt our well thought out plans for each day.

Then, there’s some of us who are spon-taneous. We don’t like to be sculpted into a little mold. We don’t like predictability. We aren’t planners. We “fly by the seat of our pants.” We wake up at a different time each day, eat at different times, go to sleep at a different time each night and rarely ever develop a routine, only those that are absolutely necessary.

It’s good to have a little bit of both personality traits in us. But as I’ve been studying the Word of God, I’ve discov-ered that it’s only through routine, regu-lar exposure to God’s Word, that we can draw near unto God. However, it’s not easy to develop a habit of drawing near to God. It’s easy to just do it when we feel like it one day and not the next day. Why must we be consistent in our time with God? Because only through consis-tency does change come about. We see that with exercising. You can’t just work out two times and expect change in your body.

Well, Satan is after your life. He’s af-ter what’s in your heart and he’ll work day and night to try to get entrance into your heart. You can’t just spend Sunday only in the Word of God and expect change in your heart, in your thoughts, in your life. It comes through a consistent routine with God. Sometimes we think, “After I’ve done a few things around the house, ran all my errands, returned my phone calls, exercised, cooked dinner . . . then I’ll spend some quiet time with God.” Next thing you know, your errands lasted longer than expected, your phone call to your best friend lasted one hour, there wasn’t any time for exercising, you

ended up ordering pizza (again), and by the end of the evening, you’re exhausted and ready for bed. No time left for God.

The day escaped you and you never made time for the most important rela-tionship in your life - your relationship with God. That’s the reason we have to make our time with God a scheduled, routine “appointment” every single day no matter what! We can’t base our time with God on how we feel one day or whether we’re in the mood to pray. We have to draw near to God daily in order to stay strong, confident, joyful and at peace in our lives. The scripture tells us in James 4:8, Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. The Amplified says it this way, Come close to God and He will come close to you.

There are two kinds of hearts we find in the Bible. There is the heart God de-lights in which is a heart that is compli-ant, cooperative, responsive to Him and His commands, a heart that obeys. Then there is the heart that’s disobedient and tries to figure everything out on its own rather than seeking God’s wisdom.

Let’s look at the hearts of king Saul and David in comparison. Many times, Saul disobeyed God but he was mindful to offer the sacrifices that God required of him. However, in his disobedience, he never gave God what He wanted most from him- his heart. He messed up over and over again and would be quick to of-fer the sacrifices, but he never truly dedi-cated his heart to God. 1 Samuel 15:22 says, ...Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obey-ing the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hear-ken than the fat of rams.

Clearly, Saul was not responsive to God or to His Law. Finally, after a series of acts of disobedience, God sent Samuel to Saul with a two-fold message: Your king-dom will not continue; and the Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart. So He stripped his kingdom from him and He gave it to a man who would be obedient to Him. In 1 Samuel 13:14 it says, I have found David a man after My own heart that will do all My will.

David obeyed God’s instructions. Saul

didn’t. He wanted to do everything his way. Yes, David made mistakes. We all know that. None of us are perfect. But God looks on the “heart” and David’s heart was centered on pleasing God. God is interested in where your heart is. Is your heart after God or is it entirely centered on pleasing yourself? Saul was a prideful man. He was very confident about his skills, his intelligence and his decisions. He didn’t think he had to seek God for counsel.

It’s interesting how both men were given the privilege of leading a nation but they both chose to walk in different di-rections. Saul walked his own road. David followed God’s path. So, what do we learn from their example? How do we obtain the same kind of heart that David had - the heart that pleases God? Proverbs 4:23 says, keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. We must guard our hearts. How do we do that? By cautiously attending to everything we al-low our eyes to see, our ears to hear, and our emotions to feel. If we carefully ob-serve what we allow to enter our hearts and consistently fill our minds with the Word of God, then we will have exactly what God is looking for in us - a heart after Him. This is obtained by developing a routine of scheduled time with God and not allowing ANYTHING to interrupt this appointment. If we can consistently do the same routine each day in some ar-eas, then we can eventually become con-sistent in our time with God.

Scheduling time with God is easy to postpone, but remember the phrase: seven days without God makes one weak. Discover when you’re the most energetic and alert. Is that in the morning or late at night when everyone’s asleep? Is it while you’re out walking or having lunch in your car? When can you create quiet, alone time with God with no interrup-tions?

Look at your schedule and begin to de-termine when your time with God works best for you. Then, start your routine. Be consistent. Don’t let up. Set goals for yourself. Determine that you’re not going to let a day go by without visiting with your heavenly Father. – AIF
