Nominations Committee, AIA CNY I would like to be considered for the committee chair position of President “elect” for the AIA CNY chapter. I was born and raised in the Syracuse suburbs and have been a resident of New York my whole life. I moved to Clemson, South Carolina for two and a half years while in college, and moved back to Syracuse due to my belief that Syracuse is a great place to live and raise a family. My belief is Upstate New York has an important value to New York State. Upstate New York can grow and prosper with the proper input from the local AIA. I believe we as Architects should be in the forefront of the area master planning and exploring solutions for healthy growth and development. Being in my mid-thirties, I am one of the few individuals from my age group who has remained to stay in this area and contribute to the local community. Below is a history of my professional background for your reference. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to working with all of you to further advance our professional presence in upstate New York. Best Regards, Frederick J Koenig, AIA, CSI SWBR Architects 4914 West Genesee Street Camillus, NY 13031-2375 315-488-5635 315-529-5058 cell [email protected] Home address: 143 Lake Street Chittenango, NY 13037 [email protected] Professional Experience: SWBR Architects – Syracuse – Project Manager 04/09 to present William Taylor Architects – Senior Architect 09/99 to 03/09 Sear-Brown Group - Architectural Designer 10/96 to 09/99 Sole Proprietor under Koenig Architect 08/08 to present Licensed in State of New York since 01/07 #031617 AIA #30371693 USGBC Member Adopter of 2030 Challenge – Individual CSI Madison County Habitat for Humanity Compassion Connection Food Pantry volunteer Clemson University – BS in Design (96) SUNY Delhi – AAS in Architectural Technology (94)

Nominations Committee, AIA CNY I would like to be considered for this nomination to the CNY AIA Board as President-Elect for a few simple reasons: 1. My long experience with various qualities of AIA practice about the country over the past 40 years should be shard in a learning way with my fellow Architects. My experiences, both good and bad are all learning experiences, it is better to learn from problems by others, than reinventing this (unnecessary) wheel. 2. The AIA needs strengthening from the larger firms, who will be contacted by me or my staff in this regard - in earlier years, the elders in the larger firms (Harry and Curtis King in my experience), not only attended the AIA chapter meetings but encouraged their younger newer staff to join them at the meetings. 3. While it is tempting to talk about the AIA as unnecessary, or outdated, or out-of-touch with the modern practitioner, it is only through such a professional organization that professionalism 'grows' to the public at large. Real or imaginary ills of the profession are best dealt within the group, whereby we all benefit. 4. I believe that it is once again time for me to be active at a level where I believe I can make a difference. Thank you,

Toby Nadel, AIA Emeritus Klepper, Hahn & Hyatt, P.C. 5710 Commons Park Drive East Syracuse, NY 13057-9581 (315) 446-9201

I am interested in serving as the Membership Director because it binds the two att ributes

I am most passionate about: Architecture and creati ng a bett er Central New York. As

architects, it’s our responsibility to help shape the community both physically and socially

through the work we do. I would work hard to encourage membership with the goal of

increasing awareness about the American Insti tute of architects nati onally, and more

importantly, locally, to promote good design in our community. Through planning the

Celebrati on of Architecture Dinner, I have learned a lot about the organizati on. I am

working effi ciently and rigorously to plan a enjoyable and elegant evening that brings the

Central New York members together. I developed the theme “Foundati ons for the

Future” to celebrate all of the hard work that local members have contributed to our

community and look forward to the work that will come. Working with Steve Kapusniak

also allows for a smooth transiti on and off ers a great mentor to me in order to learn at-

tributes of the role that i might not already know. In the role of Membership Director, I

would endeavor to grow our network of architects and facilitate a dialogue about what

our organizati on can do for the community.
