NC10 MEDIA & Telemundo since 2007.

Moved to Amarillo from La Mesa NM in

1990, born in Juarez Chihuahua Mexico

to a Mexican mother and Philippine

father.

Liliana FernandezExecutive Assistant

A 2009 Graduate of

Clint High School in El

Paso, TX and currently

a student of Amarillo College pursuing

a career in Elementary Education. Born

in Juarez Chihuahua Mexico, Liliana has

mastered English as her second language

bringing the diversity needed to assist the

public at AHCC and offer a refreshing

perspective with 2nd and 3rd generation

Hispanics and entrepreneurs. She joined

the AHCC family in October 2011.

community, linking diverse cultures in our community. This

bridge gives your business the ability to reach multiple markets

simultaneously.

Our members have the opportunity to build relationships with

several Amarillo businesses and civic leaders in our area. By

participating in our functions, you will have the opportunity to

interact with multiple businesses and their owners. This will

help you market your business to find opportunities for growth,

and build strategic alliances that could enhance not only their

customers but also your business.

Membership automatically gives your company the ability to

expand on the programs installed by the Association of Mexican

American Chambers of Commerce of Texas (TAMACC) and the

Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the United States (USHCC).

We can help small companies seeking opportunities or want to

learn about various programs. Just tell us what they want and we

will help you create or find the solution.

Businesses that have a special certification, you can conduct

business. Often receive requests for certified HUB vendors, 8 (a),

and other classifications.

We help large companies locate partners with whom to negotiate.

We along with their representatives can explain the requirements

and benefits of dealing with your company. Heritage with us is a

good way to integrate your business with the community.

We help people who want to get involved in our community. Being

part of a committee for one of our events is a good way to help the

community. Our members participate in multiple sessions which

cover situations affecting Amarillo.

Small Business, certified businesses, large companies or individual

members who want to get involved and help shape the Hispanic

Chamber of Commerce have the opportunity to serve in one of

our committees.

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is a diverse organization that

As the Executive Director of The Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of

It is an honor and my pleasure to serve as the 2011-2012 Chairman of the

Board of Directors for the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. It

is our goal to increase membership and help improve the business climate

through out the community. We encourage you to attend our “Hora

Social’s” for great networking opportunities and building relationships.

We also look to increase the number of scholarships we can award each

year by organizing successful fund raising events. We invite you to serve

on one of our fund raising committees. Your experience, knowledge and

skills will contribute to the success of the events and at the same time

promote your efforts to support our community. It is rewarding to work

with people in our community to enhance the business climate in every

area of our community.

Annette Asencio is the VP of Operations

for FirstBank Southwest, and she oversees

back office deposit processing, electronic

banking, identity theft prevention, bank

secrecy act compliance and risk management. She has also

served as a representative for FirstBank Southwest on the

Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

since January 2008.

Gilbert GutierrezBell Hellicopter

Has been with Bell Helicopter for 11 years as the

Engineering Chief. Gilbert has served as Chair

of AHCC for 2 years and currently serves as Past

Chair.

Roland Romo, Chair ElectAutism United

Co-founder of Autism United, an organization

assisting parents with Autistic and special needs

children. Roland has been a board member

since 2009. Currently serving as a Co-Chair for

2011-2012.

Nicholas Nevarez, Jr.Nevarez Law Firm

Attorney with the Nevarez Law Firm in

Amarillo, Texas, focuses his practice primarily

in the areas of immigration law, criminal law,

and civil litigation. He received his B.A. from

West Texas A&M University and his J.D. from the University at

Buffalo Law School.

took an early start in the supermarket business

and was first appointed manager at the age of

17. He is originally from Hereford, Texas and a

father of four. Raymond serves as Treasurer for AHCC.

A proud 1987 graduate of Hereford High School

West Texas A&M University. I joined Northwest

Texas Healthcare System in 1994 and have been

marketing for the hospital for more than 17 years. I serve as a

board member for Amarillo Advertising Federation and Chair for

Hablando de la Salud de la Mujer.

Charles is a 17 year veteran of Budweiser

Distributing Company, a member of the March

of Dimes board of directors for four years, avid

supporter of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention

Amanda Gonzales has been with Wells Fargo

Bank for 13 years as a Business Associate and a

Personal Banker. As a personal banker I service

the needs of many customers and businesses to

help them reach their financial goals. In addition, Amanda does

volunteer work for several local community organizations.

I am the owner of La Frontera Restaurant. I have

been in business for 26 years and have lived in

Amarillo for 40 years. I attended Bowie Middle

School and Caprock High School. I have one

daughter and four grandchildren. My family helps run my business.

I have been with the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for

three years and I love being active with my community.

Jennifer BaraLa Fiesta Grande

Jennifer Bara is the General Manager and is in

charge of the payroll department for La Fiesta

Grande Restaurants. Jennifer is the President of

the Panhandle Restaurant Association.

Valerie de la FuenteHappy State Bank

Valerie de la Fuente is a native from Hereford,

Texas. She graduated from West Texas A&M

University with her Bachelor’s degree in Business

Administration in 2005. She is currently

employed by Happy State Bank as Assistant Vice-President and

Branch Manager of the Paramount location in Amarillo. She is

married to Joel and they have one daughter, Brooke.

Darlene Saldivar has been an employee of

B&W Pantex for 23 years. Her current position

is Department Manager in the Supply Chain

Chris HiestandOperations Supervisor

Chris Hiestand is an employee with Atmos

Energy Corporation where he currently

serves as Supervisor of Operations here in the

Amarillo Operations Region. Originally from

Pascagoula, MS, Chris moved to Amarillo in December of 2008

from Lubbock, TX where he had lived since 2003. Chris holds

a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from

Mississippi State University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in

Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University. Along

with being on the Board of the Chamber, Chris is actively involved

with the United Way of Amarillo & Canyon.

Speaker that acknowledges the issues that we are facing in our

flavors mariachi festival Each year we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a tribute

to two of the most prized aspects of Hispanic culture… food

and music! This event is a great way to experience the Hispanic

Culture and explore different flavors from a variety of restaurants

in our area. If you are in need of great food, outstanding

entertainers, live music and great people then this is the event

Cinco de mayo fajita festivalCinco de Mayo is celebrated in a big way here in Amarillo. We

partner with other organizations to host the region’s biggest

celebration in downtown Amarillo. This event is now a fajita

cook-off contest called Fajita Festival. This is a great environment

to enjoy live music and celebrate with 6,000 festive individual. If

you would like to promote your business at this event please call

Clasico Golf tournamentEach year we take some time out of work and enjoy a nice

game of golf! Throughout the years, more and more people

join us. Thanks to the support of Budweiser, we host one of

the best golf tournaments in the region! With prizes, food, and

drinks everyone has a great time at this four man scramble.

The Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Amigos United and Telemundo Amarillo

team up to assure families in need are able to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.

Each year we ask people to nominate a family who they believe is in need. These families

who are nominated receive a full Thanksgiving dinner that includes everything from the

turkey to beverages and dessert.

In 2011 AHCC successfully delivered 50 full Thanksgiving meals to 50 families in Amarillo.

We hope that each year we can reach out to more and more families.

Thanksgiving Dinner Give-away committee: Dora Chavarria, Raymond Gaitan and Roland

Romo. We have wonderful sponsors and volunteers who make this give-away possible and

we are very thankful!

Sole Search provides a pair of shoes to elementary students in Amarillo

that may be in need of a new warm pair of shoes throughout the winter.

The Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has committed to give

back to the community by creating the Sole Search Project in which the

AHCC will raise funds to provide a pair of shoes to students at Amarillo

ISD. In 2010, AHCC raised enough funds to provide 282 pairs of shoes to

students at Eastridge and Forest Hill Elementary.

The 2011 goal was to provide 300 pairs of shoes to students at Emerson

& Whittier Elementary.
