THE ACADEMY
The 2 CLASSROOMS are fully developed to international standards for training delivery. They have a capacity of up to 12 and 18 students respectively and are equipped with Smart boards and projectors for interactive learning and high quality training delivery.
The AW139 MAINTENANCE TRAINER SIMULATOR (MTS) is utilised to perform practical elements courses both for airframe and avionics. The MTS is essentially a non-flying aircraft which allows trainees to become familiar with the aircraft thus increasing hands- on capability and competency.
The E-LIBRARY and LOUNGE is accessible to students during free time. It is equipped with Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP) for A109, AW119, AW139 and publications related to training and aeronautical subjects.
A MOCK UP ENGINE (PWC PT6C-67C) is available to allow the trainees to familiarize themselves with the power plant.The Academy is located at the AW Malaysia Service Centre MRO Hangar, so that the trainees can benefit from experiencing actual maintenance operations and familiarisation with the aircraft under the supervision of the AW instructors.
TRAINING ACADEMY MALAYSIAThe Leonardo Helicopters - AgustaWestland Training Academy (AWTA) Malaysia has been established to meet the demand for the delivery of training services close to the point of operation for customers resident in the Far East Asia and Australasia.
A comprehensive range of training services dedicated mainly to the AW139 helicopter model are available both for engineers and pilots. For engineers, the AWTA Malaysia has been recognised as a Satellite Centre of the Leonardo Helicopters Maintenance Training Organisation which is recognized by EASA, CASA and other National Civil Aviation Authorities and is equipped with an AW139 Maintenance Training Simulator (MTS).
For pilots, the training service is delivered in cooperation with PWN Excellence Sdn Bhd (PWNE), a Leonardo Helicopters Authorised Synthetic Training Centre (ASTC) having an AW139 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) Level D certified by EASA, DCA Malaysia and other National Civil Aviation Authorities.
The AWTA Malaysia adopts international standards, practices, teaching methods and didactical materials. It is located at Subang Airport, about 45 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

PWNE was appointed as an Authorised Synthetic Training Centre in 2013 and is the first in the Asia region offering AW139 Level D Full Flight Simulator training services.
The AWTA Malaysia flight instructors conduct the training simulation sessions at the PWNE facility. The simulator is certified by the Department of Civil Aviation of Malaysia (DCAM) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). PWNE adopt international standard procedures to ensure that the training provided meets the actual operational
effectiveness, versatility and performance of being in a real helicopter.
Facilities for the trainees convenience are available such as the Pilot Lounge, Relaxation Rooms, Playback Room, Briefing Room, VIPT Room, Flight Management System Station, Pilot Lockers, Relaxation and Prayer Room.
Strategically located in Subang, Malaysia’s aeronautical hub, PWNE is only 10 minutes away from the AW Malaysia MRO Hangar.
The AW139 FFS is the New Series 3000 upgraded to the latest software phase 7.0 and jointly manufactured by CAE and Leonardo Helicopters and enriches the list of FSTD worldwide available to Leonardo Helicopters clients.

AW139 MAINTENANCE TRAINER SIMULATOR (MTS)
The MTS was developed from an actual helicopter which is now out of service and is equipped with full aircraft systems.
The Practical Elements course performed with the MTS allow the following to be trained: ▪ Checking procedures ▪ Remove / Install components ▪ Review of hydraulic and electrical systems ▪ Troubleshooting with injection of possible faults ▪ Correct use of Ground Support Equipment and maintenance tools.

VIRTUAL INTERACTIVE PROCEDURAL TRAINER The VIPT is a static simulator, PC-based system that replicates the AW139 and AW189 cockpits using touch screens and allows training in the use of individual systems and of integrated systems. The VIPT is capable of simulating all aspects of flight using the aircraft's automatic flight control system. This is effective for MCC Training, Glass Cockpit, first start up and first system checks and locations of aircraft equipment.
