Abstract: The population densities are important indicators of the ability of space to
support the needs of the population for food. The aim of this paper is to explore the
different density of agricultural population in the villages of the Belgrade region, on the
basis of statistical indicators from the census of 2002. Methodology of this research paper
is based on the concept of studying the spatial organization of agriculture by Jovan Ili.
Key words: Belgrade region, villages, agricultural densities, population

AGRICULTURAL POPULATIOY DEYSITIES IY THE VILLAGES OF
BELGRADE REGIOY
Summery
Agricultural population densities (according to the methodology of Jovan Ili) in a
different ways differentiate the villages of the Belgrade region. The synthesis of all six
different agricultural population densities defines a unique agricultural arithmetic
density based on average values, which provides a general insight into the spatial
distribution of agricultural labor contingent. For the 91 rural settlements (65.9% of the
total number of villages) was characterized specific and special reduced agricultural
population density of 16-50 people per 100 hectares of agricultural land. The uneven
population densities in different types of agrarian population density range of 34.5
people per 100 hectares of agricultural land (the reduced agrarian-production density) to
701.4 people per 100 hectares of agricultural land (general agricultural population
density). Average value of agricultural population density is expressed in arithmetic and
the density is 253.1 people per 100 hectares of agricultural land. Rural settlement
Kovilovo is a specific example, because the census from 2002 was found only two
hectares of agricultural land, which is occurring in this neighborhood extremely high
agricultural density. Agricultural production is closely connected with labor, so on the
basis of differentiation of agrarian density can be assumed that the most intensive
production is present around the edge of the urban area of Belgrade.
