Agarwood is the resinous heartwood that comes from the Aquilaria tree. Aquilaria is a fast-growing subtropical forest tree that Plantations International
grows on sustainably managed Plantations in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Agarwood when distilled into oil produces one of the most valuable raw commodities in the world. Agarwood oil also known as “OUD” is a key ingredient in some of the most expensive fragrances in the world. Top name brands like Versace, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss to name a few all have premiere fragrance lines that feature OUD oil. Due to its high demand and limited supply high grade agarwood chips have sold for over USD 10,000 a kilogram and the distilled OUD oil has sold for over USD 50,000 per kilogram.

Agarwood Market Demand The current global market for Oud Oil and other related Agarwood products is estimated to be in the range of over USD 12 billion and is ‘growing rapidly‘. The global perfume and fragrance industry, the major industry buyer of Oud Oil, is expected to exceed US$ 36 billion in 2020 according to research undertaken by global research analysts.
Two of the largest Importers of Agarwood are Taiwan and Japan, where they import in excess of 50,000 tonnes annually with a purchase value in excess of 3 billion USD per year. Q : Why is the harvest term 7 years?
A : In most circumstances, it takes a minimum of 7 years for the Aquilaria tree to produce an economically viable level of agarwood. In fact in comparison to other high yield asset classes that have a minimum 10 year lock-in period, and offer you absolutely no guarantee on returns, 7 years is actually quite a short term period.
Q : Who are the main buyers of Oud Oil and Agarwood derived products?
A : The main buyers are of Oud Oil and Agarwood : - Fragrance Houses / Cosmetic Companies

Q : How and when will I receive the proceeds from my trees?
A : Within 30 days of Plantations International harvesting your trees and selling to one of our off-take partners we will transfer your proceeds minus our 20% harvest and management fees to an account of your choice.
Q : Are there any additional fees or hidden charges?
A : No, all management, administration and maintenance fees are included upfront. We only get our 20% harvesting and management fee upon successful sale of your Agarwood derived product
Q : Why should I add Forestry to my portfolio?
A : Due to its very low volatility, forestry is considered a very safe asset class. Forestry consistently out performs most other asset classes such as stocks, bonds and fixed deposits. A : All proceeds by default are paid in USD unless you request otherwise. If you request any other currency besides USD, currency conversion fees may apply. You will receive copies of all currency conversion statements.
