AFFIDAVIT AND APPLICATION FOR ARREST WARRANT AND THE ARREST WARRANT FOR THE PERSON(S) OF:

Terry Lone Dunford (a.k.o. Terry Wayne Dunford), doh: 03/29/1977, a white male, 5'11", approximately 150 lbs., brown hair and hazel eyes with numerous tattoos; FBI# 786549FB1, for Murder in the 151 degree, C.R.S. 18-3-101 (l)(a), Class l Felony.

On Tuesday, F~ , 2018 at 7:20 p.m. the Denver Combined Communications Center received a 911 call from ..... stating that he had not heard from the mother of his children, Jeanna Leslie, dob: 06/29/1968, in over a week and that she was supposed to have picked up their children that night for a Nuggets basketball game but failed to do so and had not contacted him or their children. Officers responded on a welfare check to the Rio Grande Lofts located at 1531 Stout Street, apartment #306, in the City and County of Denver, at approximately 11 :29 p.m. and receiving no answer at the door, requested the fire department for assistance to enter the residence after finding the door locked. Upon opening the door, officers and fire department personnel noticed the overwhelming smell of decomposition. Officer Jason Mejia, 08060 and Officer Nicholas Ciardullo, 15037, entered the apartment. Officer Mejia noted he observed what appeared to be bloody clothing and blood stains on the carpet and the walls of the entry way. While clearing the residence, the officers observed what appeared to be more blood throughout the apartment. The bathroom door was closed, and upon opening it, Officer Mejia and Officer Nicholas Ciardullo, 15037, observed what appeared to be a deceased white female with Jong dark hair, wearing what appeard to be a white button down shirt with a blood stains, and naked from the waist down suffering from multiple stab wounds. Denver Health Medical Center ambulance #75 responded with attending paramedic Vahabi. The victim was pronounced deceased by Denver Health Medical Center Doctor Kevin Mc V aney at 1: IO a.m. on February 14, 20 J 8.

A search warrant and affidavit in support of search warrant for 1531 Stout Street, apartment 306, was authored by Denver Police Night Shift Detective Jacob Huffine, 08016, and approved by Denver District Attorney Beth Mccann and the Honorable Judge Diane Briscoe. The search warrant was executed by your Affiant and members of the Denver Police Crime laboratory. During the execution of the search warrant, your Affiant observed what appeared to be large amounts blood throughout the studio apartment on the floor and the walls, and attempts to clean up or cover the stains. Items of evidence located in the residence included the following:

Bloody clothing in the entry area of the apartment, personal property belonging to the victim, a red handled stainless steel knife with suspected blood on it, a green handled stainless-steel knife from the bed near the red handled knife, two silver stainless table knives, one with apparent blood and one without.

On the floor and a small stand in the Jiving area were empty cardboard carriers for a six-pack of Corona beer and a six-pack of Guinness beer. A Guinness bottle with suspected blood was located on the floor of the entry way and a partly consumed bottle of Corona beer was located sitting on the tank of the toilet.

Located on the floor near the bed and the door to the bathroom was a pair tan, green and black camouflage cargo style men's pants with suspected blood on them. A large light tan sweatshirt with a fish logo in a circular pattern on the front, also with suspected blood, was located lying on the floor on the opposite side of the door to the bathroom.

A Custody Report from the Wheatridge, Colorado police department was located on top of a silver laptop computer located on the couch in the living room area. The name listed on that document was "Dunford, Terry Lane II" with a date of birth of 03/29/1977. The description was of a white male, 5' 11, 175 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Also recovered from a brown Banana Republic shopping bag located in the bedroom area of the apartment was a man's brown Quicksilver wallet with a Department of Veterans Affairs identification card issued to Terry Lane Dunford, II, a Hawaii issued Driver's License, issued to Terry Lane Dunford, II, dob: 03/29/1977, and a Denver Rescue Mission identification card issued to Terry Dunford on February 7, 2018. The photograph on the Denver Rescue Mission showed Mr. Dunford to have a goatee and was wearing what appeared to be a light-colored shirt or sweatshirt with a brown curved image on the front. What appears to be a dark colored necklace is present on the right side of Mr. Dunford's neck. Located in the same shopping bag was a white Apple iPhone in a clear gold case, later identified as belonging to the victim.

A receipt for Champa Fine Wine & Liquor, located at 1600 Champa Street, was found in the pocket of the tan pants with blood stains located in the entry way of the apartment with the date stamp of 2/7/2018 and the time of 5:04 p.m. During subsequent investigation, Homicide Detective Daniel Andrews, 96015, recovered video from the Champa Fine Wine & Liquor that showed the victim, a white female with long, dark hair wearing a dark colored jacket, what appears to be a white shirt, tan colored pants, black knee~high boots and carrying a black purse, enter the front door of the liquor store with a white male, with dark hair and a goatee and wearing a light colored sweatshirt with a logo on the front that appears identical to the logo on the sweatshirt found in the victim's apartment. They enter the liquor store at approximately 5:02 p.m. and are seen leaving together a few minutes later. The male party is carrying what appears to be a six-pack of Corona bottles and a six-pack of Guinness bottles.

On February 14. 201~ imately 4:08 a.m. Homicide Detective William Saulton interviewed the victim's ex-husband .... , who provided Detective Saulton with the victim's vehicle information. He advised your Affiant that the victim drove a gray Nissan Rogue. Your Affiant had established that there was no attached parking garage to the building, however your Affiant observed a parking garage across the street. Your Affiant requested assistance from Officer Mejia in driving the parking garage to ascertain if the victim's vehicle was parked there. Officer Mejia advised your Affiant that he had located a blue Nissan Rogue, Colorado license plate BMW-776 on the third level of the parking garage. A subsequent Department of Motor Vehicles search revealed that vehicle listed to Jeanna Leslie at 1531 Stout St, #306. Your Affiant observed that vehicle in it's parking spot on the 3n1 level and noted that it appeared to have a thin layer of dust on it.

On February 14, 2018 at 12:2~ Affiant contacted- , the manager at Global Pacific Parking at 1520 Stout Street. ...... provided your Affiant with the key card log for the victim indicating that the victim last used her key card to access the secure garage on February 6, 2018 at 4:28 p.m. The access was at the entry to the garage. - stated that the key card for the victim had not been used since. Your Affiant and Mike Bush of the Denver Crime Lab Forensic Imaging Unit reviewed video footage captured by Global Pacific Parking of the lobby exit from the parking garage. At approximately 4:33 p.m. a white female with long dark hair wearing a dark colored jacket, dark colored knee-high boots and carrying a purse that appears identical to the black purse located in the victim's apartment exits the stairwell from the parking garage, walks across the lobby, exits the doors and walks straight across Stout Street.

The photographs of Terry Lane Dunford on the identification cards that were recovered from the wallet at the crime scene are a match to the male party in the liquor store surveillance video and the

The tan, green and black camouflage cargo style men's pants, and the tan sweatshirt with the logo on the front, with suspected blood stains, that were recovered from the crime scene, are a match to the clothin bein worn by the male party in the liquor store surveillance video an . Your Affiant believes that the male party with the victim at the liquor store and is the suspect, Terry Lane Dunford.

On February 15, 2018, at approximately 11 :20 a.m., Your Affiant was contacted by Certified Latent Print Examiner Michael Odom from the Denver Police Department's Crime Lab/ Latent Print Unit. Mr. Odom told Your Affiant that a latent print had been developed on one of the "Pfaltzgraff Everyday" metal butter knives that had been recovered from the crime scene. The latent print was compared to the available exemplars for Terry Dunford, dob: 03/29/1977, FBI number 786549FB I. Mr. Odom told Your Affiant that the latent print from the knife was identified to the known exemplars for Terry Dunford and was a match. The identification was verified by Certified Latent Print Examiner Natalie Hernandez.

On February 15, 2018 at 4:33 p.m. Mike Bush of the Denver Crime Lab Forensic Imaging Unit sent your Affiant 3 screen shots of a male party captured on a camera located in the hallway directly across from the victim's apartment door on the 3rc1 floor. The victim's door is not captured, but the area immediately next to the door and down the hallway is. Mr. Bush indicated that the image was from February 7, 2018 at approximately 5: t O p.m. The photographs are consistent with the male party identified as Terry Lane Dunford. They present a profile image of a male with dark hair, a goatee, wearing a light-colored crew neck top. That image appears consistent with the picture of Terry Dunford from the Denver Rescue Mission identification card issued February 7, 2018.

On February 14, 2018 Denver Police Detective John Medford, 97014, conducted a digital download of the victim's Apple iPhone data. On February 16, 2018 your Affiant reviewed that data and noted that the last time call activity registered on the victim's phone was February 7, 2018 at 3:29 p.m. The last SMS message activity that was read was on February 7, 2018 at 1 :43 p.m. There were no outgoing SMS messages after that time. The last iMessage activity was a message out from the victim's phone on February 7, 2018 at 3: 15 p.m. and the last web search was conducted on February 7, 2018 at 2:32 p.m.

Based upon the above stated facts and information, your Affiant respectfully requests an arrest warrant be issued for Terry Lane Dunford II, doh: 03/29/1977 for Murder in the pt degree, C.R.S. 18-3-102 (l)(a), Class 1 Felony.
